Effects of different circuit training protocols on body mass, fat mass and blood parameters in overweight adults

2017

Benefits of exercise are known for a long time, but mechanisms underlying the exercise mode recommendations for specific chronic cardiovascular diseases remain unclear. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of different circuit training protocols in order to determine which is the best for weight loss and for specific overweight- related disorders. Forty-five female sedentary overweight participants from 20 to 50 years (average 31.8±11.2) were enrolled and assigned to three different groups; each group was compared with a control normal-weight group. Three different circuit protocols were randomly assigned to each overweight group: aerobictone- aerobic (ATA), aerobic-circuit-aero…

Organic matter dynamics and aggregation in soils under rain forest and pastures of increasing age in the eastern Amazon Basin

1997

Abstract In the eastern Amazon basin, four neighbouring clayey Oxisols with similar particle-size distributions were selected, one under rain forest and three under pasture for 7, 12 and 17 years, respectively. These soils were sampled at depth intervals of 0.1 m down to 1 m. Although no clear effect of pasture establishment on aggregate stability was assessed, significant negative effects of cattle trampling on porosity and water retention and of vegetation change on clay water-dispersion were observed in the organic-rich horizons (0–0.40 m layers). Indirect evidence of a great change of the nature of organic materials was also suggested, particularly with (i) an increase in both negative …

Yet another alien: a second species of Lepisiota spreading across the Canary Islands, Spain (Hymenoptera: Formicidae)

2018

The Canary Islands are a biologically important archipelago hosting many unique species, whose myrmecofauna is peculiarly rich in both endemic and introduced species. Lepisiota frauenfeldi cfr. kantarensis Forel, 1911 is reported for the first time from Fuerteventura and Tenerife. It is the second species of Lepisiota introduced in the archipelago in the last few years, and one of the few documented cases in which Lepisiota frauenfeldi (Mayr, 1855) s.l. acts as a successful tramp species. Comments are also given on taxonomic problems involving the L. frauenfeldi-group and related taxa. Finally, new additional information and comments are presented on the distribution of other alien ants spe…

Singēna ortotopiska prostatas audzēja modeļa izveide imūnkompetentās pelēs vēža šūnu producēto ekstracelulāro vezikulu pato-fizioloģiskās lomas pētīj…

2018

Stay Home, Stay Active with SuperJump®: A Home-Based Activity to Prevent Sedentary Lifestyle during COVID-19 Outbreak

2020

The purpose of this study was to investigate the intensity of SuperJump® workout as a home-based activity for fulfilling physical activity recommendations during COVID-19 home-confinement. Seventeen (males: n = 10; females: n = 7) college students (age: 25.8 ± 2.7 years; height: 1.7 ± 0.1 m; weight: 66.2 ± 12.1 kg) participated in the study. To assess the intensity of the activity (30-min), heart rate (HR), expressed as percentages of age-predicted maximal HR (%HRmax), and session ratings of perceived exertion (sRPE), collected on a CR10 scale, were used. %HRmax data were categorically separated in five classes of intensity according to the American College of Sport…

Changes in Pelvic Floor Muscle Tone after ‘Jumping Fitness’ Training—A Case Stud

2021

Aims Previous studies confirm the existence of a beneficial component of mechanical vibration and oscillation during trampoline exercises. Researchers have been interested in the possibility of using these exercises in the process of strengthening pelvic floor muscles and in cases of stress urinary incontinence. This study aimed to evaluate changes in pelvic floor muscle tone after 8 weeks of systematic ‘jumping fitness’ training and performing a follow-up observation of the maintenance of this effect after 9 months. Case report This study involved a young woman without symptoms of stress urinary incontinence who began practicing ‘jumping fitness’ 3 times a week for 2 months. After the end …

The effect of conventional movement training and trampoline training on balance and gait in chronic hemiplegic patients

1991

The postural sway of subjects during standing both with their eyes open and closed together with maximum velocity of walking were analysed in six male chronic hemiplegic patients before, during and after an intensive movement training programme lasting 8 weeks. The movement training programme was carried out on the basis of Bobath's principles. Three of the subjects carried out their training on a trampoline, with the particular purpose of enhancing the stimulation of the mechanisms responsible for the control of balance. During the follow-up, maximal walking velocity remained at previous levels and no systematic changes were observed in the control of postural sway. Although the use of the…

Children’s physical activity and sedentary time compared using assessments of accelerometry counts and muscle activity level

2018

Background This research compared accelerometry (ACC)-derived and muscle electromyography (EMG)-based estimates of physical activity (PA) and sedentary time in typical PA tasks and during the daily lives of children. Methods Data was included from two exploratory studies. In Study I, 6–7-year-old children (n = 11, 64% girls) were assessed for eight PA tasks (walking, stair negotiation, climbing, crawling, swinging, balancing, trampoline jumping and a game of tag). In Study II, 7–9-year-old children (n = 14, 38% girls) were assessed for six PA tasks (walking, sitting, static squat, single leg hops, jump for height and standing long jump), and daily PA during one day with and one day without…

Pihatrampoliini lasten motoristen perustaitojen kehittäjänä

2014

Viitamaa Kirsi (2014). Pihatrampoliini lasten motoristen perustaitojen kehittäjänä. Liikuntakasvatuksen laitos, Jyväskylän yliopisto, liikuntapedagogiikan pro gradu -tutkielma, 65 s., 2 liitettä. Varhaislapsuus on ihmisen kehityksen kulta-aikaa, jolloin motoriset perustaidot tulisi oppia mahdollisimman hyvin. Viime vuosina pihatrampoliinien suosio on lisääntynyt lasten ja nuorten keskuudessa. Yhä useamman suomalaisen kodin pihalta löytyy pihatrampoliini. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena oli selvittää pihatrampoliinin käytön tarjoamia mahdollisuuksia lasten motoristen perustaitojen harjaannuttamiseen. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin vanhempien ja lasten kokemuksia pihatrampoliinin käytöstä. Tämä t…
