Mechanical properties, internal structure and transport mechanism of oxygen in cork

2015

During the post bottling aging, premature oxidation reactions could occur and the oxygen barrier properties of the stopper are often pointed out. Nowadays, the internal structure of this material or the effect of hydration on its mechanical properties are still undetermined. Moreover, regarding the barrier properties, the limiting step of the oxygen transfer was not yet fully understood as well as the effect of compression or the role of the glass/cork interface in a bottleneck. The study of the internal structure of cork stopper allowed us to visualize the macroporosity of the material and conclude that there is no interconnectivity between lenticels, for the two qualities studied. The eff…

Development of direct elemental analysis for process control of nuclear materials manufacturing

2019

In order to optimize the quality control processes of uranium and plutonium metals from nuclear industry production lines, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) appears as an efficient technique: it enables multi-element, fast and remote chemical analysis that require no sample preparation. Thus, the purpose of our work is to develop this technique towards the quantification of metal impurities in nuclear materials, with an analytical development achieved from surrogate materials. It follows another PhD thesis where a particular spectral band, Vacuum UltraViolet, has been chosen for its performance regarding the detection of several light elements in such materials. However, after per…

Specific adduction of plant lipid transfer protein by an allene oxide generated by 9-lipoxygenase and allene oxide synthase

2006

International audience; Lipid transfer proteins (LTPs) are ubiquitous plant lipid-binding proteins that have been associated with multiple developmental and stress responses. Although LTPs typically bind fatty acids and fatty acid derivatives in a non-covalent way, studies on the LTPs of barley seeds have identified an abundantly occurring covalently modified form, LTP1b, the lipid ligand of which has resisted clarification. In the present study, this adduct was identified as the {alpha}-ketol 9-hydroxy-10-oxo-12(Z)-octadecenoic acid. Further studies on the formation of LTP1b demonstrated that the ligand was introduced by nucleophilic attack of the free carboxylate group of the Asp-7 residu…

Modulation of the Biological Activity of a Tobacco LTP1 by Lipid Complexation

2004

Plant lipid transfer proteins (LTPs) are small, cysteine-rich proteins secreted into the extracellular space. They belong to the pathogenesis-related proteins (PR-14) family and are believed to be involved in several physiological processes including plant disease resistance, although their precise biological function is still unknown. Here, we show that a recombinant tobacco LTP1 is able to load fatty acids and jasmonic acid. This LTP1 binds to specific plasma membrane sites, previously characterized as elicitin receptors, and is shown to be involved in the activation of plant defense. The biological properties of this LTP1 were compared with those of LTP1-linolenic and LTP1-jasmonic acid…

2013

The topic of this thesis is the Marca dynasty, a piedmontese family from the Valsesia area, specialized in the stucco work. In the early eighteenth century, some of its members migrated to the Franche-Comté in France, in search of work, the others remaining in Piedmont. Their realizations can be studied in religious places and private houses in Italy, in Franche-Comté and Burgundy. These works (altars, pulpits, statues and bas-reliefs in stucco) were created between the late seventeenth century and the early nineteenth century. This topic is entirely unpublished, especially as the information on this family are rare and scattered. Moreover, no research has been undertaken on it, neither in …

Public domain and decentralization

2017

Decentralisation and public ownership are two distinct notions that are, a priori, related in only a limited manner. The relationship between them is all the weaker in that public ownership has contributed to the construction of the State and is historically and intrinsically linked to its unitary nature. The transfer of property that comes with decentralisation and, more particularly, the principle of compensation has, however, resulted in a number of changes to the regime governing publicly owned property that is transferred, inevitably leading to a reassessment of these relationships. The revision of the rules set out in France’s ‘general code on public ownership’ less than two years aft…

2013

The synthesis of secondary phosphine borane amino acids or dipeptides and their applications for the preparation of chiral ligands or for the grafting of fullerene, is described. These compounds were synthesized in good yield (up to 98%) without racemization. The principle of the synthesis is based on the alkylation of primary phosphine borane with a γ-iodo amino acid using phase transfer conditions. Tertiary diphosphine amino acids are obtained with 70% yield after a second alkylation. These compounds are one of the first examples of diphosphine grafted with a P-C bond on the side chain of amino acid. First of all, mono and diphosphine amino acid derivatives were used in asymmetric allylic…
