Background Adenomyosis (AM) uteri exhibit hyperperistalsis. The latter causes a chronic tissue trauma at the endometrial-myometrial junctional zone (EMJZ). Upon tissue trauma, microdehiscences in the myometrium facilitate the translocation of basal endometrial fragments into the myometrium. There, a metaplasia (mediated by transforming growth factor β1 [TGFβ1] and connective tissue growth factor [CTGF]) occurs and AM lesions develop. In 2011, a 40-year-old woman underwent laparoscopic myomectomy with intraabdominal morcellation. Histology report showed leiomyoma without atypia, necrosis, or mitosis. In 2016, she complained of left lower quadrant pain; ultrasound examination revealed a left hypogastric mass in the site of trocar placement. Percutaneous biopsy results showed a low-grade endometrial stromal sarcoma (LGESS). At laparoscopy, we observed: multiple nodules on uterine serosa, left annex, vesical peritoneum (Figure 1), Douglas pouch (Supplementary Video1), previous left pelvic trocar site (Figure 2), greater omentum (Figure 3), and right/left diaphragm.

Abstract Insulin resistance is associated with a low chronic inflammatory state. In this study we investigated the relationship between impaired insulin sensitivity and selected markers of inflammation and thrombin generation in obese healthy women. We examined 32 healthy obese women (body mass index ≥ 28), with normal insulin sensitivity (NIS, n = 14) or impaired insulin sensitivity (n = 18), and 10 nonobese women (body mass index < 25). A multi-resolution analysis (MRA) based on the wavelet transform (WT) has been implemented to study NDVI time series. These series, which are non-stationary and present short-term, seasonal and long-term variations, can be decomposed using this MRA as a sum of series associated with different temporal scales. The main focus of the paper is to check the potential of this MRA to capture and describe both intra- and inter-annual changes in the data, i.e., to discuss the ability of the proposed procedure to monitor vegetation dynamics at regional scale.
