International audience; We present a new open-source and modular instrumentation package composed of up to ten automatic in- filtrometers connected to data acquisition systems for automatic recording of multiple infiltration experiments. The infiltrometers are equipped with differential transducers to monitor water level changes in a Mariotte re- servoir, and, in turn, to quantify water infiltration rates. The data acquisition systems consist of low-cost components and operate on the open-source microcontroller platform Arduino. A Simple Monte Carlo Model of a Hot Carrier Cell

In the present work, a simplified model of a hot carrier cell is examined at different energy levels of carrier collection. Incident photons, Monte Carlo generated by employing the ASTM G173–03 data set, are accounted for individually as they interact with the cell. The hot carrier cells are examined in a transient state caused by a flash of photons with AM1.5 spectrum. Excess photon energy is recycled giving a form of thermalization of hot carriers. The sensitivity of contact variables and the device band gap on cell efficiency, has been studied.
Diffusion of oxygen in cork.

International audience; This work reports measurements of effective oxygen diffusion coefficient in raw cork. Kinetics of oxygen transfer through cork is studied at 298 K thanks to a homemade manometric device composed of two gas compartments separated by a cork wafer sample. The first compartment contains oxygen, whereas the second one is kept under dynamic vacuum. The pressure decrease in the first compartment is recorded as a function of time. The effective diffusion coefficient D-eff is obtained by applying Fick's law to transient state using a numerical method based on finite differences. Pustular lesions and itching in a couple of young migrants

Two teenage illegal migrants from Bangladesh coming from a Libyan port arrived at Lampedusa Island-Italy. The health authorities, having noticed the presence of pustules on the limbs and genitals, suspecting a monkeypox virus infection, have urgently transferred them to the University Hospital of Palermo. They mentioned itching and prior sexual contact. On inspection, itching lesions and pustular lesions with central crusted umbilication and erythematous bases were detected. One of them had also fever and increased c-reactive protein. A real-time polymerase chain reaction assay on vesicle swabs to research monkeypoxvirus DNA and HIV serology was performed for both patients.

Whereas the recent UN resolution urges governments to accelerate progress towards universal access to affordable and quality health-care services, the Spanish Government, bypassing the parliamentary procedure, enacted a Royal Decree to limit access to free services at the point of delivery for all-undermining the principle of universal coverage. Spanish health and social service budgets have been subjected to large cuts (13,7% in 2012 and 16,2% in 2013) with some regions imposing additional budget cuts.

Purpose This study aims to highlight how easy it is for immigrants to break Italian law because of the country’s inadequate cultural and linguistic mediation service. The Covid-19 pandemic is a global health emergency that requires immediate, effective action by governments to protect the health and basic human rights of everyone’s life. Refugees and migrants are potentially at increased risk because they typically live in overcrowded conditions often without access to basic sanitation. Since the beginning of the official lockdown for Covid-19, the medico-legal assessment of physical violence related to obtaining status or other forms of human protection has been frozen.
Placental alkaline phosphatase types in Germany

The phenotypes of placental alkaline phosphatase were determined in a sample of 231 Germans and 109 non-Germans. The observed gene frequencies of the German sample were \({\text{Pl}}^{{\text{S}}_{\text{1}} } {\text{ = 0}}{\text{.654}}\), \({\text{Pl}}^{{\text{F}}_{\text{1}} } {\text{ = 0}}{\text{.247}}\), and \({\text{Pl}}^{{\text{I}}_{\text{1}} } {\text{ = 0}}{\text{.097}}\). No association could be found with placental weight. Lower birth weight was correlated with an increase of the \({\text{Pl}}^{{\text{I}}_{\text{1}} } \) gene frequency.
