Geometric deformation measurement and correction applied to dynamic streak camera images

The complete procedure of measuring and correcting geometric deformations encountered with dynamic streak camera images in the picosecond range is presented and discussed. First, we describe the experimental setup derived from the well known spacing calibration grid method. The implemented measurement bench, adapted to time-resolved 1D imaging, notably exhibits a great accuracy and repeatability both in space and time thanks to a three-axis motorized translation stage and programmable delay lines. The intention of this chapter is to review the development of linguistic research during the twentieth century in Europe and the United States, in order to show that the genesis of text linguistics as a comprehensive theoretical framework was necessary, considering the events from a post-eventum perspective. Audiovisual texts possess characteristics that clearly differentiate audiovisual translation from both oral and written translation, and prospective screen translators are usually taught about the issues that typically arise in audiovisual translation. En aquest treball es descriu una experiència pedagògica consistent en la introducció del *portafolio com a eina d'aprenentatge i avaluació en un curs universitari de traducció. La descripció es basa en dades arreplegades durant dos anys i en els resultats d'un qüestionari administrat als participants. Després d'una breu contextualització de l'experiència i la reflexió sobre els aspectes més rellevants del *portafolio per a l'ensenyament de la traducció, específicament en la universitat, s'ofereix una descripció exhaustiva dels efectes positius de la utilització de l'instrument en el curs. El treball acaba amb una valoració de l'experiència per part dels participants.

The aim of this article is to present the results of a questionnaire-based study carried out as part of the author’s Master’s Degree dissertation about Subtitles for the Deaf and Hard-of-hearing (SDH). In particular, the need to gather specific information regarding audience design will be highlighted in the paper, since this research field has long been neglected in Italy. The questions were aimed at shedding light on the needs, cultural environment and world-view of Italian SDH users, by eliciting personal data as well as subtitlerelated information. Two View Line-Based Motion and Structure Estimation for Planar Scenes

We present an algorithm for reconstruction of piece-wise planar scenes from only two views and based on minimum line correspondences. We first recover camera rotation by matching vanishing points based on the methods already exist in the literature and then recover the camera translation by searching among a family of hypothesized planes passing through one line. Unlike algorithms based on line segments, the presented algorithm does not require an overlap between two line segments or more that one line correspon- dence across more than two views to recover the translation and achieves the goal by exploiting photometric constraints of the surface around the line.
