Considerations on the role of modernizing the road infrastructure in the prevention of road accidents
2019
The realizing and improvement of road infrastructure, of modern road networks provides normal, safe and pleasant road traffic conditions and also help prevent road accidents. The road network, with its constructive characteristics, has to offer optimal conditions for the movement of vehicles, pedestrians and other categories of participants in the road traffic. Starting from the case study of a road sector with heavy road traffic, the current paper analyzes the increase in road safety in Romanian localities along European and national roads through the implementation of specific measures such as setting up sidewalks, installing New Jersey median barriers, expanding the road sectors with 2+1…
Analysis of the Road Risk on the National Road 7 Sector of the Olt River Gorge, between Talmaciu and Calimanesti, for the Years 2011-2018
2019
The study and analysis of the phenomenon of road accidents, that generates risks for the life, physical or psychic integrity and health of humans, but also for material goods, cannot be considered complete without analyzing its dynamics over time and its potential evolution. In this regard, the current paper aims to analyze the general and specific traits of the road risk on the National Road 7, in the Olt River gorge, over a significant time frame, namely 8 years, from 2011 to 2018. This analysis will also be put into context with the most important road factors – the human factor, the road factor, the vehicle factor and not least with the main causes of the road accidents.
Implementation of an occupational stress Control Model
2019
Occupational stress is an enemy of society, a problem that requires a deep research to control stress more effectively. The case study presented in this article consists of a model control regarding occupational stress. The experimental part of this study involved interviews with 15 employees, 9 females and 6 males aged between 25-55 years. Participants described stressful situations at work. Time allocated for each subject was 45 minutes per interviews. The model was implemented based on the job content stressors, effects of stress (physiological, psychological, behavioural) and interviews results. Future directions in stress research is to identify the way to have control in the workplace…
Proposals for a More Creative Education System
2019
The present paper supports the necessity of adapting any modern education system to the growing demand for creative specialists in all fields of activity. In this context, we appreciate that an education system that develops students’ creativity can be characterized as a creative system. In the framework of extensive research on creativity management we have developed over the last few years, one of the goals was to discover several ways to improve the education system. From the perspective of educational work in the academic environment, we believe that stimulating student group creativity is essential for their development as future specialists and for their successful integration in orga…
MM-DSL, support for implementing modelling tools for manufacturing processes
2019
Today’s competitive conditions call for detailed comparative analyzes of manufacturing processes in order to get competitive products. This analysis involves the development of faithful and robust models for the supervision and management of all organizational and operational activities of companies. Efficient modelling involves the selection and use of appropriate tools for modelling, simulation and analysis of manufacturing processes. The diversity of manufacturing processes often makes it necessary to implement specific modelling tools. MM-DSL is a platform independent language for specifying and implementing specific modelling tools. The core objective of the MM-DSL language is the impl…
Study about Mechanical Properties of Materials Obtained by Thermoforming
2019
Plastic materials have played a very important role in the development of our modern civilization. It can be said that plastic materials are a tribute to man’s creativity and inventiveness. Plastic materials are the key to the innovation of many products and technologies in various sectors such as electrical and electronic equipment, packaging, civil engineering, agriculture, power generation, medical and pharmaceutical industry, aerospace and not last automotive industry. An increasingly important aspect in the automotive industry, in terms of fuel consumption is the lower weight of the components, while maintaining a very high stiffness. The difficulties of the design process of thermofor…
Comparing two applicative criteria of the soil erosion physical model concept
2017
The physical model represented by a replicated plot has been suggested to be the best possible, unbiased, real world model to predict plot soil erosion. The aim of this investigation was to compare the original applicative criterion of the physical model concept proposed by Nearing with that later suggested by Bagarello et al. The comparison was performed by using three empirical soil erosion models (the Universal Soil Loss Equation [USLE], a modified USLE [USLE-MM], and the Central and Southern Italy [CSI] model) and plot soil loss data collected at the experimental station of Sparacia, in Sicily (southern Italy). The investigation showed that (i) the new criterion was generally more restr…
Mechanical and metallurgical characterization of AA6082-T6 sheet-bulk joints produced through a linear friction welding based approach
2020
In the last decades, new flexible manufacturing processes have been developed to face the demands, by many industrial fields, for highly customized complex functional parts. The peculiar design of these components often overcomes conventional sheet metal and bulk metal forming processes capabilities. In order to face this issue, new hybrid techniques, capable of exploit key advantages of different processes, have to be developed. In this study, a method to obtain sheet-bulk joints, based on the Linear Friction Welding process, is proposed. The feasibility of the technique was investigated through an experimental campaign carried out with varying pressure and oscillation frequency using AA60…
Analysis of hybrid vehicle transmissions with any number of modes and planetary gearing: kinematics, power flows, mechanical power losses
2021
Abstract This paper is focused on upgrading a unified parametric model, available in the literature, that can perform both the analysis and the design of Power-Split Continuously Variable Transmissions (PS-CVTs), which are particularly promising to deploy in the hybrid electric powertrain. In particular, this work is focused on the analysis of PS-CVTs and proposes a new matrix approach for identifying the basic functional parameters underlying the model from the constructive layout of the transmission. This new method does not rely on a case-specific formulation, thus befits any power-split transmission, regardless of the number of planetary and ordinary gear sets and their constructive arr…
