An alternative space-time meshless method for solving transient heat transfer problems with high discontinuous moving sources

International audience; The aim of this work is the development of a space-time diffuse approximation meshless method (DAM) to solve heat equations containing discontinuous sources. This work is devoted to transient heat transfer problems with static and moving heat sources applied on a metallic plate and whose power presents temporal discontinuities. The space-time DAM using classical weight function is convenient for continuous transient heat transfer. Nevertheless, for problems including discontinuities, some spurious oscillations for the temperature field occur. A new weight function, respecting the principle of causality, is used to eradicate the physically unexpected oscillations.

Micron-precision in cleaving glass using ultrafast bessel beams with engineered transverse beam shapes

International audience; Ultrafast lasers in association to beam shaping have shown to be excellent candidates for transparent material processing. Non-diffractive solutions such as Bessel beams allows for precise energy deposition since they are robust to undesired non-linear effects and as they do not distort along the propagation. Porous architecture and thermal properties of thermal barrier coatings deposited by suspension plasma spray

Abstract Besides the intrinsic low heat transfer capability of material, the thermal insulation property of thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) also relies on their microstructures. For better understanding the relationship between process parameters, porous architecture, and thermal properties of coatings, YSZ coatings were firstly manufactured by suspension plasma spray (SPS). Indeed, the type of plant-microorganism interaction (PMI) is linked to the trophic exchanges between plant and microorganism. Microorganisms are thus able to “manipulate” the host to modify sugar fluxes. In mycorrhizal symbiosis, the plant has a supply of nutrients by the fungal partner, which in return receives sugars. Pull-off adhesion of hybrid glass-steel adhesive joints in salt fog environment

The aim of this paper was to evaluate the durability behaviour of glass/steel adhesive joints exposed to salt fog environmental conditions for ten weeks, according to ASTM B117 standard. To this scope, pull-off mechanical tests were carried out in order to evaluate the performances evolution and damage phenomena of the adhesive joints during the ageing exposition. Two different types of adhesives were compared (i.e. epoxy and polyurethane ones). Moreover, the effects of the glass surface condition and the presence of a basalt mat layer within the adhesive thickness were evaluated.
