Deuteron form factor measurements at low momentum transfers
2016
A precise measurement of the elastic electron-deuteron scattering cross section at four-momentum transfers of 0.24 fm−1 ≤ Q ≤ 2.7 fm−1 has been performed at the Mainz Microtron. In this paper we describe the utilized experimental setup and the necessary analysis procedure to precisely determine the deuteron charge form factor from these data. Finally, the deuteron charge radius rd can be extracted from an extrapolation of that form factor to Q 2 = 0.

Cluster isobars for high-precision mass spectrometry
1991
Doublet mass measurements of the isobars28Si3 and12C7 are performed by use of a Penning trap mass spectrometer and the Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR). The carbon and silicon cluster ions are produced by laser ablation. Results of these preliminary measurements are presented.
Tetrapod trackways from Southern Egypt and Northern Sudan
1990
Abstract Tetrapod footprints were found in the Cretaceous strata-formerly called “Nuba(n) Sandstone” -of SE-Egypt and NW-Sudan. The trackways are here for the first time described in detail and in connection with their relative depositional environments. As the preservation of these footprints is poor, generic or specific names were not given. The name of the ichnogenus that comes closest to fitting the shape has been noted for each print. With respect to their paleoecological and stratigraphical significance, investigations of tetrapod footprints were necessarily concentrated on the continental strata of Egypt and Sudan. More discoveries will be welcome.
Las inteligencias múltiples en la escuela
2002
During many years has prevailed the idea of intelligence as a single problem solving ability (factor g) considered the best predictor of student’s academic achievement. Recently, researches have begun to take an alternative view of the problem, understanding it is a multidimensional construct. Multiple intelligences (MI) theory proposed by Gardner (1983) takes into account seven talents or skills individuals appear to have in certain amount. These latent bio-psychological potentials are stable and they are mantained through life. Theory of MI proposes that every person learns in relation to them. MI theory has many educational applications, however, very few efforts have been made to verify…
Large Impact of the Decay of Niobium Isomers on the Reactor ν¯e Summation Calculations
2019
Even mass neutron-rich niobium isotopes are among the principal contributors to the reactor antineutrino energy spectrum. They are also among the most challenging to measure due to the refractory nature of niobium, and because they exhibit isomeric states lying very close in energy. The beta-intensity distributions of Nb-100gs,Nb-100m and Nb-102gs,Nb-02m beta decays have been determined using the total absorption.-ray spectroscopy technique. The measurements were performed at the upgraded Ion Guide Isotope Separator On-Line facility at the University of Jyvaskyla. Here, the double Penning trap system JYFLTRAP was employed to disentangle the beta decay of the isomeric states. The new data ob…
Base Control of Electron-Transfer Reactions of Manganese(III) Porphyrins
2000
Homogeneous electron-transfer kinetics for the reduction of four different manganese(III) porphyrins using different reductants were examined in deaerated acetonitrile, and the resulting data were evaluated in light of the Marcus theory of electron transfer to determine electron-exchange rate constants between manganese(III) and manganese(II) porphyrins. The investigated compounds are represented as (P)MnCl, where P = the dianion of dodecaphenylporphyrin (DPPX; X = H20, Cl12H8, or F20) or tetraphenylporphyrin (TPP). The electron transfer from semiquinone radical anion derivatives to (P)MnIIICl leads to formation of the corresponding MnII complex, [(P)MnIICl]−. The electron-exchange rate con…
Transition Dipole Orientation of Linear Polyenes: Semiempirical Models and Extrapolation to the Infinite Chain Limit
1999
Linear conjugated polyenes have an electronic transition dipole moment for the strongly allowed 1Ag to 1Bu electronic excitation that is not oriented along the major axis of the polyene chain. In this paper, the experimental values of this off-axis angle are compared to semiempirical and ab initio theoretical predictions. The semiempirical computations are shown to be reliable and are extended to long chains (n = 20). The results are then extrapolated to the infinite chain limit. A nonzero value of 6°−11° for the infinite polyene is suggested by this extrapolation but state of the art ab initio results for a series of small polyenes yield a zero asymptotic value.
Efficacy of a bivalent vaccine against eel diseases caused by Vibrio vulnificus after its administration by four different routes
2003
Vulnivaccine, a vaccine against vibriosis caused by Vibrio vulnificus serovar E (formerly biotype 2), confers acceptable levels of protection to eels after its administration by prolonged immersion in three doses. Recently, a new pathogenic serovar, named serovar A, has been isolated from vaccinated eels in a Spanish freshwater eel farm. The main objective of this work was to design a bivalent vaccine, and to study its effectiveness against the two pathogenic serovars. With this aim, eels weighing around 20 g were immunised with the bivalent vaccine by oral and anal intubation, intraperitoneal injection (i.p.) and prolonged immersion. The overall results indicated that: (i) the new vaccine …
Settimana Santa in Sicilia: l’Addolorata di Trapani e i gruppi processionali di Erice
2015
The following article brings us closer to the celebration of Easter in Sicily giving special attention to the traditional processions of Trapani and Erice. The author highlights its most characteristic aspects that relate to its established devotion of Mary. This article also studies the possible similarities with Murcia’s Oracion en el Huerto.
