Which future for the european city? This is the main issue at the core of the itinerary exhibition of urban projects and architecture aiming at starting a virtuous process of reflections on the theme of the sustainable city in the mediterranean area. The presented projects, beneficiating from on a collaboration among several european institutions, provide a large panorama of answers regarding the transformation of the city of Palermo, Trapani and Marseille. Il campo di applicazione progettuale si è orientato al potenziale d’integrazione urbano e architettonico e ha concentrato gli interventi progettuali in quei luoghi marginali in cui la centralità del rapporto tra architettura e infrastrutture è risultato prioritario. Sono stati indagati alcuni modi possibili di definire e operare i procedimenti del progetto urbano e di architettura, dotati di un grado elevato di complessità, finalizzati all’elaborazione di progetti per Palermo 2019, Trapani 2020 e Marsiglia 2030.

Tra la fine degli anni Cinquanta e l’inizio degli anni Sessanta, Giuseppe Samonà progetta e realizza tre impianti termoelettrici, ad Augusta (SR), a Termini Imerese (PA) e a Trapani, per conto della Società Generale Elettrica della Sicilia, confluita nell’Enel dopo la nazionalizzazione avvenuta nel 1961. Attraverso i tre edifici, la SGES avviava lo sviluppo elettrico e, più in generale, industriale della regione, avvalendosi di uno dei più importanti progettisti italiani del XX secolo. The contribution, divided between history and representation, aims to analyse the design genesis and the sources used by the architect Giovanni Amico for the modernization of the Immacolatella church’s tribune in Trapani (since 1732). The church is devoid of studies and surveys with digital instrumentation but its unique compositional characteristics, which exploit the theme of the manipulation of space and light for scenographic and liturgical purposes, require in-depth analysis. We apply a combination of photocurrent and photothermal spectroscopic techniques to experimentally quantify the trade-off between useful and parasitic absorption of light in thin hydrogenated microcrystalline silicon (?c-Si:H) films incorporating self-assembled silver nanoparticle arrays, located at the rear side, for improved light trapping via resonant plasmonic scattering. Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are web-like chromatin structures composed by dsDNA and histones, decorated with antimicrobial proteins. Their interaction with dendritic cells (DCs) allows DC activation and maturation toward presentation of NET-associated antigens. Differently from other types of cell death that imply protein denaturation, NETosis preserves the proteins localized onto the DNA threads for proper enzymatic activity and conformational status, including immunogenic epitopes.
