Effect of custom-made and prefabricated foot orthoses on kinematic parameters during an intense prolonged run

Foot orthoses are one of the most used strategies by healthy runners in injury prevention and performance improvement. However, their effect on running kinematics throughout an intense prolonged run in this population is unknown. Physical training and connective tissues in young mice. Biochemistry of skin.

The effect of physical training on some connective tissue components of the skin was studied in male mice of NMRI-strain. The mice to be trained and their controls were about 2-weeks-old at the beginning of the training, which took place on a 5 degree inclined treadmill 5 days a week for 3-22 weeks progressively. The final exercise bouts were 50 and 80 min for moderate programmes and 180 min for the intensive programme at a speed of 30 cm/s. At the end of each experiment skin samples from trained and control animals were taken for the analyses. This study analyzes the potential of virtual reality (VR) to enhance attentional distraction in overweight children as they experience bodily sensations during exercise. It has been suggested that one reason why obese children stop exercising is the perception of bodily sensations. Effects of age and life-time physical training on fibre composition of slow and fast skeletal muscle in rats.

The effects of age and endurance training on muscle fibre characteristics were studied in a slow (m. soleus, MS) and in a fast (m. rectus femoris, MRF) skeletal muscle. Wistar rats at ages of 1, 2, 4, 10, and 24 months were used as experimental animals. The trained rats were put to run on a motor-driven treadmill 5 d/wk beginning from the age of 1 month. The body weights of the animals increased continuously throughout their lives. The muscle weights increased up to the age of 10 months, after which they tended to decrease.
