Statistical Modeling and Analysis of Mobile-to-Mobile Fading Channels in Cooperative Networks Under Line-of-Sight Conditions

2009

Published version of an article from the journal: Wireless Personal Communications. The original publication is available at Springerlink. http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11277-009-9721-4 Recently, mobile-to-mobile (M2M) cooperative network technology has gained considerable attention for its promise of enhanced system performance with increased mobility support. As this is a new research field, little is known about the statistical properties of M2M fading channels in cooperative networks. So far, M2M fading channels have mainly been modeled under the assumption of non-line-of-sight (NLOS) conditions. In this paper, we propose a new model for M2M fading channels in amplify-and-forward relay lin…

Cooperative MAC design in multi-hop wireless networks-Part II: When source and destination are two-hops away from each other

2010

Published version of an article from the journal: Wireless Personal Communications. The original publication is available at Spingerlink. http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/s11277-010-0073-x Ubiquitous and pervasive computing and networking are envisaged as part of the future 5G wireless communication landscape where devices which are multi-hops away from each other are connected in a cooperative way. In this paper, we investigate a challenging case in cooperative communications where source and destination are two-hops away from each other. From the perspective of MAC design, we propose a novel MAC protocol which enables two-hop cooperative communications by involving one or more one-hop neighbors …

The wheel of collaboration tools

2006

Paper from the 2006 20th anniversary conference on Computer supported cooperative work We present a holistic framework for analyzing and specifying collaboration solutions, developed by an oil and gas company in response to practical needs in supporting integrated collaboration and information management. A typology of collaboration tool capabilities, termed the Wheel of Collaboration Tools (WCT), is described. We assess its contributions, and discuss areas of application and potential further development. Our intent is to stimulate discussion and research related to this type of collaboration modeling.
