Agents driven smart sensors
2017
Any physical area (like schools, home, hospitals etc.) that uses either mobile devices, sensors, embedded systems or computers to gather information from the users and the environment and eventually, adapt according to the new information gained. [1] Smart spaces compromises of heterogeneous hardware which often leads to the issues of interoperability. One way of reducing the heterogeneity between the sensors is to introduce the semantic interface as sensors default interface. Semantic Web provides a common interface and for-mat for data representation so that one can decrease the heterogeneity of data and increase data reusability. [2] With the Smart Spaces, it is important to use only the…
O projeto Mujeres Maestras del Perú. Estudo de caso sobre identidades de ensino
2018
Understanding Interaction Search Behavior in Professional Social Networks
2011
We present an empirical study of social interaction in a professional social network. As the point of departure, we take previous research into distributed work and information foraging theory to explore interaction search behavior of individuals active in professional networks, examining how social factors govern their behavior. For this exploration, we focused on the process through which relevant collaborators are chosen to execute shared work tasks in the area of logistics, and identified six characteristics of the explored processes. We recognized the “survival of the social” as a cornerstone for efficient and long-term professional networks and outlined design implications arising fro…
Identification of international media events by spatial and temporal aggregation of RSS flows of newspapers
2013
The GEOMEDIA research project (ANR Corpus, 2013-2015) aims to elaborate an international observatory of media events, based on the collection of RSS flows sent by 100 newspapers of French and English languages. This contribution (1) describes the complexity of the information contained in RSS flows according to space, time and media dimensions; (2) derives basic solutions for the identification of international events on the basis of procedures of time aggregation; (3) analyzes the spatial interaction between countries through an analysis of co-quotations in RSS flows; (4) checks the existence of possible interactions between the two previous dimensions.
The workers' value of the remaining employment contract duration
2005
We introduce and apply a method for estimating workers' marginal willingness to pay for job attributes employing data on job search activity. Worker's willingness to pay for the remaining duration of the employment contract is derived. We provide evidence that workers attach substantial value to the remaining contract duration. A temporary worker with a remaining contract of six months is willing to pay about 10% of the monthly wage to increase the contract by one month. This discussion paper has resulted in a publication in Economica, 2008, 75(297), 116-39.

Distributed leadership and teacher’ self-efficacy : the case studies of three Chinese schools in Shanghai
2011
This study looks into the distributed leadership and its influence on teachers’ self-efficacy in three Chinese schools in Shanghai. Against the background of the eighth national curriculum reform launched in 2002, the Chinese schools are seeking for the new way to enhance the school-based curriculum. On top of that, the trend of decentralization also encourages the school principals to involve the teachers in the school leadership practice. The relationship between distributed leadership and teachers’ self-efficacy in this study is examined from the angle of principals’ empowerment strategies. A mixed methods approach is applied to collect both qualitative and quantitative data from the thr…
Elements of Sustainability for Public Sector Software : Mosaic Enterprise Architecture, Macroservices, and Low-Code
2021
Public sector is a large consumer for software. In countries such as Finland, many of the systems are made to order by consultancy companies that participate in public tenders. These tenders initiated by the state, cities, and other public sector organizations. Furthermore, as public sector tasks are often decomposed to various actors, each and every one of them makes their purchase based on their own needs. In this paper, we argue that to maintain software sustainability in this context, there is a need for three key elements. Firstly, there is a need for an enterprise architecture where independent services from various vendors are can be easily deployed and integrated. Secondly, these se…
Success factors in distributed agile development : case study
2018
This thesis aimed to figure out success factors in distributed software development conducting literature review and empirical research. The motivation for this research rose from practical work experience and the notion that usage of agile development has increased same time as global distributed software development has become more common. The research question formed to investigate the topic was: “What are success factors in distributed agile development and what experiences about this combination already exists?” To answer research question, there were conducted literature review of existing literature and empirical case study research executed using theme interviews. In literature revi…
Study on the Reputation of the (MASS) Media in Romania
2021
Abstract Part of a bigger research project conducted by Media Reputation Lab (Media REP Lab) on the reputation of media in Europe, the study explores the reputation of media among informed population in Romania. A sample of 100 cases was involved in the online survey taking place in December 2019. The results provide a description of the country’s media reputation (media in general: radio, print, digital and television). For each one of these media, the valuation obtained by each of the reputational attributes (credibility, rigor, impartiality, willingness to rectify) by the informed population would be indicated. Moreover, insights on the knowledge and use, as well as on the reputation (ov…
