Semantic aware RSS query algebra

International audience; Existing XML query algebras are not fully appropriate to retrieve RSS news items mainly due to three reasons: 1) RSS is text rich and its content is dependent on the wording and verbification of the author, thus semantic aware operators are needed; 2) news items are dynamic and consequently time oriented retrieval is needed; 3) a news item may evolve through time, or overlap with other news items and hence identifying relationships between items is also needed. In the case of historical records, these concepts are often the only source of information regarding the position of ancient places whose exact location has been lost. International audience; The memoir "Theory of parallel lines" (1766) by Johannes Heinrich Lambert is one of the founding texts of hyperbolic geometry, even though his author conceived it as an attempt to show that this geometry does not exist. In fact, Lambert developed that theory with the hope of finding a contradiction. In doing so, he obtained several fundamental results of hyperbolic geometry. This was sixty years before the first writings of Lobachevsky and Bolyai appeared in print. This book contains the first complete translation of Lambert's memoir as well as mathematical and historical commentaries.
Modelling biogeochemical processes in sediments from the north-western Adriatic Sea: response to enhanced particulate organic carbon fluxes

This work presents the result of a study carried out in the north-western Adriatic Sea, by combining two different types of biogeochemical models with field sampling efforts. A longline mussel farm was taken as a local source of perturbation to the natural particulate organic carbon (POC) downward flux. This flux was first quantified by means of a pelagic model of POC deposition coupled to sediment trap data, and its effects on sediment bioirrigation capacity and organic matter (OM) degradation pathways were investigated constraining an early diagenesis model by using original data collected in sediment porewater.
