We address the feature extraction problem for document ranking in information retrieval. We then propose LifeRank, a Linear feature extraction algorithm for Ranking. In LifeRank, we regard each document collection for ranking as a matrix, referred to as the original matrix. We try to optimize a transformation matrix, so that a new matrix (dataset) can be generated as the product of the original matrix and a transformation matrix. The HERIDI project (EU Heritage Diplomacy and the Dynamics of Inter-Heritage Dialogue) opens new horizons in the research of new diplomacy by investigating a gap in current research: the uses of heritage in EU foreign policy and international cultural relations. Malnutrīcija bērniem ar bērnu cerebrālo trieku

Pētījuma mērķis: Noskaidrot malnutrīcijas risku bērniem ar bērnu cerebrālo trieku. Pētījuma hipotēze: Latvijā malnutrīcija bērniem ar BCT sastopama tikpat bieži kā citur pasaulē. Petījuma metodes: anketa “Ēšanas grūtības un malnutrīcijas pazīmes bērniem ar BCT”, antropometriskie dati, ķermeņa masas procentiļu skala. Rezultāti un secinājumi: Pētījumā iesaistīts 41 respondents. Nepietiekams augums ir 14 bērniem, nepietiekams svars ir 22 bērniem, nepietiekams ĶMI ir 19 bērniem. Bērni ar BCT Latvijā ir pakļauti malnutrīcijas riskam. Pastāv statistiski ticamas korelācijas starp nepietiekamu ķermeņa augumu (garumu), ķermeņa masu, ĶMI un malnutrīcijas, disfāgijas pazīmēm.

The Diversification of Sicilian Farms: A Way to Sustainable Rural Development

Rural areas still suffer from a lack of sustainable development, and the diversification of farms may be a step in the right direction. The paper provides a detailed picture of the diversification of Sicilian farms into tourism services. Specifically, we propose a simple indicator of localization intensity of agritourism farms and explore their spatial distribution at municipality level. Our study highlights that Sicilian farms rarely diversify into tourism services, despite being situated in attractive areas. That said, some significant spatial clusters of municipalities where agritourism farms are highly concentrated do emerge from the study.

Depuis près de 25 ans, la théorie de l’agence (Easterbrook, 1984 ; Jensen, 1986) postule que les actionnaires demandent des dividendes pour discipliner les dirigeants. Une analyse approfondie de la littérature montre cependant que la politique de dividende ne constitue pas un mécanisme efficace de gouvernance, pour au moins trois raisons : les attentes des divers groupes d’actionnaires sont variées en matière de versement de dividendes ; les entreprises concernées présentent des caractéristiques spécifiques ; la gouvernance des entreprises est de « faible » qualité du point de vue des actionnaires minoritaires.

Islands are frequently characterised by an economic structure centred on tourism and the service sector. This specialisation has taken different forms and characterisations concerning the chosen or spontaneously developed model.
