A new ferromagnetically coupled μ-alkoxo–μ-acetato copper(II) trinuclear complex: [Cu3(H2tea)(Htea)(CH3COO)2](ClO4) (H3tea=triethanolamine)
2005
Abstract A μ-alkoxo–μ-acetato trinuclear copper(II) complex, [Cu3(H2tea)(Htea)(CH3COO)2](ClO4) 1, has been synthesized by reacting copper(II) perchlorate, triethanolamine and sodium acetate. The unit cell contains two centrosymmetric, crystallographically independent trinuclear Cu(II) complexes and two ClO 4 - ions. The crystallographically independent trinuclear Cu(II) complexes differ mainly in some of their geometry parameters. The coordination environment of the central copper atom is square-planar, in one trinuclear entity, and elongated octahedral in the other one (in this last case, the coordination number of the central copper atom increases through the semicoordination of an oxygen…
Self-assembly by co-ordination and strong hydrogen bonding. X-ray crystal structures of a dimeric trisodium complex of a new acidic complexing ligand…
1993
Abstract The new acidic complexing ligand triethanolamine-O,O,O-triacetic acid, 3, is synthesized by reaction of triethanolamine with chloroacetic acid in the presence of sodium tert-butoxide. The resulting Na complex, 4, and its dihydrate, 5, contain two ligand molecules, both with one Na+ ion interaction and both co-ordinated to a third, central, Na+ ion. In addition the acidic ligands are hydrogen bonded to each other, like carboxylic acids, and in 4, by three crystallographically symmetric hydrogen bonds, while in 5, due to the breakdown of symmetry, two normal and one crystallographically symmetrical hydrogen bond. Inside this extraordinary dimeric assembly (a pseudo-cryptate) are the …
Enhanced manganese content in Mn-MCM-41 mesoporous silicas
2005
The use of triethanolamine containing complexes of Si and Mn as hydrolytic precursors allows the synthesis of doped mesoporous silicas in which the Mn content can be modulated up to reach a minimum value of the Si/Mn molar ratio of 3. This limit value corresponds to a Mn relative content significantly higher than those reported to date for similar materials (Si/Mn = 6). According to XRD, TEM and porosity data, the mesoporous nature typical of the MCM-41 silicas is retained even for the samples having the highest Mn content.
One‐Pot Synthesis of Superparamagnetic CoO‐MCM‐41 Nanocomposites with Uniform and Highly Dispersed Magnetic Nanoclusters
2004
Superparamagnetic CoO-MCM-41 mesoporous nanocomposites, with variable cobalt amounts, in the form of well-dispersed CoO-like clusters, were prepared in a large compositional range by a one-step reproducible procedure employing co-hydrolysis and co-condensation of the inorganic precursors in a water/triethanolamine medium. Synthesis of fluorinated first generation starburst molecules containing a triethanolamine core and 1,2,4-oxadiazoles
2006
Abstract 5-Pentafluorophenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles, differently substituted at C(3), have been synthesized and used to functionalize the aliphatic primary hydroxyl functionalities of triethanolamine, under mild conditions. UV–visible absorption and emission spectra are reported, for both tri- and difunctionalised molecules, showing their potential applications as light-emitters in optoelectronic devices.

Intramolecular versus intermolecular exchange pathways in the binuclear complex [Cu2(H2tea)2(4,4′-bipy)](ClO4)2·3H2O (H3tea=triethanolamine and 4,4′-…
2001
Abstract The binuclear copper(II) complex of formula [Cu2(H2tea)2(4,4′-bipy)](ClO4)2·3H2O (1) (H3tea=triethanolamine and 4,4′-bipy=4,4′-bipyridine) has been isolated and characterized by X-ray diffraction. Its structure consists of dinuclear [Cu2(H2tea)2(4,4′-bipy)]2+ cations, uncoordinated perchlorate anions and crystallization water molecules. Each copper atom exhibits a trigonal-bipyramidal environment with the three triethanolamine-oxygen atoms building the equatorial plane, and the triethanolamine-nitrogen and one of the 4,4′-bipy nitrogen atoms defining the three-fold axis. The 4,4′-bipy molecule acts as a bismonodentate bridging ligand, the copper–copper separation across it being 11…
