A comparison of spreading and motility behaviour of 8701-BC breast carcinoma cells on type I, I-trimer and type V collagen substrata. Evidence for a …

1991

Ductal infiltrating carcinoma (d.i.c.) of human breast is a highly invasive neoplasm characterized by enhanced deposition of collagen. Paradoxically, enhanced collagen deposition is not correlated with inhibition of the migration of tumour cells into the host tissue. d.i.c. is characterized by the reappearance of ‘embryonic’ type I-trimer collagen and an increase in type V collagen content in the matrix. The effects of these two collagen types were compared with type I collagen as culture substrata on the spreading pattern, cytoskeletal organization and motile behaviour of 8701-BC breast carcinoma cells using rhodamine-phalloidin staining, a DNAase I-competition assay, scanning electron mic…

Rotational States of the Helium Trimer in the Symmetry-Adapted Hyperradial-Adiabatic Approach

2003

We have searched for bound rotationally excited states of the helium trimer using the symmetry-adapted hyperradial adiabatic approach. Since the calculated J p = 2+ and J p = 1− potential curves are both completely repulsive, we infer that there are no bound rotational states of 4He3. A recent adiabatic calculation [1] based on the direct solution of the Coriolis-coupled Schrodinger equation agrees with this conclusion.

Greatly enhanced intermolecular π-dimer formation of a porphyrin trimer radical trications through multiple π bonds.

2010

A trefoil-like porphyrin trimer linked by triphenylamine (TPA-TPZn(3)) was synthesized. A three-electron oxidation of TPA-TPZn(3) forms a radical trication (TPA-TPZn(3)(3+)), in which each porphyrin ring undergoes a one-electron oxidation. The radical trication TPA-TPZn(3)(3+) spontaneously dimerizes to afford (TPA-TPZn(3))(2)(6+) in CH(2)Cl(2) . The characteristic charge-resonance band due to the charge delocalization over the π system of (TPA-TPZn(3))(2)(6+) was observed in the NIR region. The initial oxidation potential of TPA-TPZn(3) is negatively shifted relative to that of the corresponding monomer porphyrin, which results from the stabilization of the oxidized state of TPA-TPZn(3) as…

1990

The anionic polymerization of tert-butyl acylate (tBuA) initiated by tert-butyl α-lithioisobutyrate was investigated in THF at 25°C. The individual oligomers were isolated and characterized by UV, IR and NMR spectroscopy. The distribution of products was determined in the range of reaction times 0,02 s ≤ t ≤ 1800 s. The oligomerization is extremely fast. Even after 0,02 s at -30°C, no residual monomer could be detected. After short reaction times the reaction mixture almost exclusively consists of linear oligomers of tBuA. This indicates that there is no termination reaction by Claisen condensation during polymerization. Nevertheless, the molecular weight distribution is rather broad (Mw/Mn…

Differential expression and interaction with the visual G-protein transducin of centrin isoforms in mammalian photoreceptor cells.

2004

Photoisomerization of rhodopsin activates a heterotrimeric G-protein cascade leading to closure of cGMP-gated channels and hyperpolarization of photoreceptor cells. Massive translocation of the visual G-protein transducin, Gt, between subcellular compartments contributes to long term adaptation of photoreceptor cells. Ca(2+)-triggered assembly of a centrin-transducin complex in the connecting cilium of photoreceptor cells may regulate these transducin translocations. Here we demonstrate expression of all four known, closely related centrin isoforms in the mammalian retina. Interaction assays revealed binding potential of the four centrin isoforms to Gtbetagamma heterodimers. High affinity b…

Crystallization and Preliminary X-Ray Analysis of Rotavirus Protein VP6

1998

ABSTRACT As a first step to gain insight into the structure of the rotavirus virion at atomic resolution, we report here the expression, purification, and crystallization of recombinant rotavirus protein VP6. This protein has the property of polymerizing in the form of tubular structures in solution which have hindered crystallization thus far. Using a combination of electron microscopy and small-angle X-ray scattering, we found that addition of Ca 2+ at concentrations higher than 100 mM results in depolymerization of the tubes, leading to an essentially monodisperse solution of trimeric VP6 even at high protein concentrations (higher than 10 mg/ml), thereby enabling us to search for crysta…

Slow Magnetic Relaxation in a Co 2 Dy Trimer and a Co 2 Dy 2 Tetramer

2021

The combination of Co(III) and Dy(III) with a compartmental Schiff base ligand (H 3 L = 3-[(2-Hydroxy-3-methoxy-benzylidene)-amino]-propane-1,2-diol), presenting three different coordinating pockets, has allowed the synthesis of two novel Co(III)-Dy(III) complexes: [Co 2 Dy(HL) 4 ]NO 3 ·2CH 3 CN ( 1 ), a rare example of trinuclear linear Co III 2 Dy III complex (and the first with slow relaxation of magnetization in absence of a DC field) and [Co 2 Dy 2 (μ 3 -OH) 2 (HL) 2 (OAc) 6 ]·4.6H 2 O ( 2 ), the first tetranuclear Co III 2 Dy III 2 cluster with a rhomb-like structure where the Co(III) ions are connected along the short diagonal of the rhomb. 1 presents two different relaxation process…

Sterically-controlled nuclearity in new copper(II) complexes with di-compartmental ligands: Formation of antiferromagnetically coupled angular trimer…

2010

Abstract Two new copper(II) complexes, [Cu3(L1)2(H2O)2](ClO4)2 (1) and [CuL2 ⊂ (H2O)] (2) have been derived from two di-compartmental Schiff base ligands H2L1 and H2L2, respectively. Depending on slight modification of the substituent group of the potentially N2O4 donor ligands, tri- and mononuclear structures are obtained, which have been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. Both complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV–vis and EPR spectroscopy. Complex 1 consists of an angular trinuclear array of copper ions, while complex 2 consists of a mononuclear copper center. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements have been performed to inv…

Über die oligomerisierung von Cycloocten

1972

Cyclooctene was oligomerized in the presence of the catalytic system WCl6/C2H5OH/C2H5AlCl2 in order to prepare the homologous series (C8H14)n. The conditions of reaction were established particularly with respect to the catalyst concentration. The influence of the solvent was investigated. The oligomers pre…
