Influence of post-treatment time of trivalent chromium protection coating on aluminium alloy 2024-T3 on improved corrosion resistance

2019

Abstract Low corrosion protection performances of Trivalent Chromium Process (TCP) coatings with reference to Chromium Conversion Coatings (CCC) deposited on aluminium alloys can be overcome by application of post-treatment processes. This work shows the effect of post-treatment bath (containing hydrogen peroxide and lanthanum salt) on the chemical composition, structure and the corrosion performances of TCP coating deposited on AA 2024-T3 aluminium alloy. Different times of post-treatment bath were applied on the TCP coating and the samples were analyzed by Time-of-Flight Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (ToF-SIMS), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and Glow Discharge-Optical Emission …

Improvement of the electrochemical behaviour of Zn-electroplated steel using regenerated Cr(III) passivation baths

2014

[EN] Conversion coatings based on trivalent chromium are more sensitive to the presence of zinc and iron impurities than the chromate formulations. This fact contributes to a decrease in the quality of passivation and to the generation of a significant amount of hazardous liquid waste. Recently, a new eco-innovative process based on Emulsion Pertraction Technology (EPT) is being implemented at industrial scale for selectively removing Zn and Fe from spent passivation baths in order to enhance the lifetime of the Cr (III) baths. In this study, the effect of Zn and Fe removal on the electrochemical behaviour of Zn-electroplated steel samples was evaluated by means of polarisation curves and e…

5,5′-Bis-vanillin derivatives as discriminating sensors for trivalent cations

2015

[EN] Several bis-vanillin derivatives containing semicarbazone moieties have been prepared and used in discriminating trivalent cations. The prepared probes are readily obtained and they are usually highly crystalline. Depending on the ligand and the studied cations, quenching, enhancement or no changes in the fluorescence spectrum were observed. Using a series of the prepared ligands allows distinguishing between Fe3+, Cr3+ and Al3+. Detection limits and selectivity in front of divalent cations have been evaluated. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd. Synthetic and natural chromium bearing spinels: an optical spectroscopy study

2014

Four samples of synthetic chromium-bearing spinels of (Mg, Fe2+)(Cr, Fe3+)2O4 composition and four samples of natural spinels of predominantly (Mg, Fe2+)(Al, Cr)2O4 composition were studied at ambient conditions by means of optical absorption spectroscopy. Synthetic end-member MgCr2O4 spinel was also studied at pressures up to ca. 10 GPa. In both synthetic and natural samples, chromium is present predominantly as octahedral Cr3+ seen in the spectra as two broad intense absorption bands in the visible range caused by the electronic spin-allowed 4A2g → 4T2g and 4A2g → 4T1g transitions (U- and Y-band, respectively). A distinct doublet structure of the Y-band in both synthetic and natural spine…

A chalcone-based highly selective and sensitive chromofluorogenic probe for trivalent metal cations

2015

[EN] Anew chalcone-based probe for the chromofluorogenic sens-ing of trivalent (Al3 +,Fe3+,Cr3+,Ga3+,In3+and As3 +)overmono-and divalent cationsand anionsisreported. In the presence of trivalent metal cations, the probe was able to displayaremarkable color change from yellow to colorless that wasclearly visible to the naked eye. Also, the initial strongyellowemission was gradually quenched and substituted by aweaklyshifted band.

Plutonium(III) complexation by humic substances studied by X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy

2006

Abstract We determined structural parameters for the near-neighbor surrounding of plutonium(III) in complexes with humic and fulvic acids at pH 1 and for the purpose of comparison also for the plutonium(III) aquo ion by means of X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy. It could be shown that in the complexes with humic substances as well as in the plutonium(III) aquo ion sample the trivalent oxidation state of plutonium was stable within the time of the experiment. In the humate and fulvate complexes, the plutonium(III) is surrounded by about eight oxygen atoms with an average Pu–O distance of 2.48 ± 0.02 A. The structural parameters determined for plutonium(III)–humate and –ful…

1,1′-(Diphosphene-1,2-diyl)bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine)

2017

The title compound, C18H36N2P2, crystallizes in the triclinic space groupP-1 with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. Both molecules adopt atransconfiguration of the tetramethylpiperidine units along the P=P axis. The crystal packing is stabilized only by van der Waals interactions.
