Asthma and chronic bronchitis are inflammatory diseases with extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling and collagen deposition. Collagen homeostasis is controlled by metalloproteinases (MMPs) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs). We evaluated MMP and TIMP balance in induced sputum of 10 control, 31 untreated asthmatic, and 16 chronic bronchitic subjects. We first performed zymographic analysis to identify the profile of MMPs. Zymography revealed a similar MMPs profile in all populations studied and that MMP-9 was the major enzyme released. Precise measurement of $\gamma$-rays following ordinary (non-radiative) capture of negative muons by natural Se, Kr, Cd and Sm, as well as isotopically enriched $^{48}$Ti, $^{76}$Se, $^{82}$Kr, $^{106}$Cd and $^{150}$Sm targets was performed by means of HPGe detectors. Energy and time distributions were investigated and total life time of negative muon in different isotopes was deduced. Different approaches have been studied for the preparation of resins containing different polyazamacrocycles. Preparation of monolithic resins by polymerization of vinylic derivatives of the corresponding macrocycles is shown to be a more versatile strategy for this purpose. The use of energy-dispersive analysis by X-ray has revealed to be a very useful tool for the rapid evaluation of the interaction of those materials with both anions and cations and has allowed the corresponding selectivity trends to be obtained in a fast and simple way. Important effects of the polymeric matrix are observed in some cases.

This paper proposes an enhancement of the cross-efficiency evaluation through the aggregation of cross-efficiencies by using a particular type of induced ordered weighted averaging IOWA operator. The use of a weighted average of cross-efficiencies for the calculation of the cross-efficiency scores, instead of the usual arithmetic mean, allows us to introduce some flexibility into the analysis. Given a piecewise invertible map T:X\to X and a weight g:X\rightarrow\ ]0,\infty[ , a conformal measure \nu is a probability measure on X such that, for all measurable A\subset X with T:A\to TA invertible, \nu(TA)= \lambda \int_{A}\frac{1}{g}\ d\nu with a constant \lambda>0 . Such a measure is an essential tool for the study of equilibrium states. Assuming that the topological pressure of the boundary is small, that \log g has bounded distortion and an irreducibility condition, we build such a conformal measure.
Robust l2-gain control for 2D nonlinear stochastic systems with time-varying delays and actuator saturation

Abstract This paper is concerned with the problems of stability analysis and l2-gain control for a class of two-dimensional (2D) nonlinear stochastic systems with time-varying delays and actuator saturation. Firstly, a convex hull representation is used to describe the saturation behavior, and a sufficient condition for the existence of mean-square exponential stability of the considered system is derived. Most research into the adaptive significance of warning signals has focused on the colouration and patterns of prey animals. However, behaviour, odour and body shape can also have signal functions and thereby reduce predators' willingness to attack defended prey. European vipers all have a distinctive triangular head shape; and they are all venomous. Several non-venomous snakes, including the subfamily Natricinae, commonly flatten their heads (also known as head triangulation) when disturbed. The adaptive significance of this potential behavioural mimicry has never been investigated.
