Permanent cardiac pacing in children results commonly in augmented energy consumption because of the high pacing rates and the ample stimulation safety margin applied in children. Cardiovascular anatomy and limited venous access sometimes preclude the otherwise preferred endocardial approach. The study of cardiovascular dynamics is pivotal in the prevention and monitoring of cardiovascular diseases. Pulse Arrival Time (PAT) series contain information concerning not only the dynamics of the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS), but of all the systems involved in the regulation of cardiovascular homeostasis. This study aims to highlight how indexes extracted from PAT series in time-, frequency- and information-domain allow to discriminate among different physiological conditions. Abstract The electrocatalytic carboxylation of chloroacetonitrile to cyanoacetic acid performed at silver cathodes was investigated both theoretically and experimentally. Silver exhibits powerful electrocatalytic activities towards the reduction of chloroacetonitrile. Quantitative ECG analysis for individual risk assessment of future myocardial infarct-results from the MARISK study

From 1980 to 1990 the authors performed an epidemiological cohort study in order to explore the predictive power of computer electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements for individual risk assessment of future myocardial infarct in combination with commonly known risk factors. Out of 7542 participants, 83 experienced a myocardial infarct during the course of the study. Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that vector cardiogram (VCG) measurements provide significant additional information to risk estimation which is equivalent to that of other risk factors.
