Access to the abdominal aorta and its visceral trunks is possible through several approaches. Dissections of five cadavers performed during three National Surgical Anatomy courses applied to Aorta, Hepatobiliopancreatic and Digestive Surgery. Vitamin C and E supplementation blunts increases in total lean body mass in elderly men after strength training

The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of vitamin C and E supplementation on changes in muscle mass (lean mass and muscle thickness) and strength during 12 weeks of strength training in elderly men. Thirty-four elderly males (60-81 years) were randomized to either an antioxidant group (500 mg of vitamin C and 117.5 mg vitamin E before and after training) or a placebo group following the same strength training program (three sessions per week). Anomalous origin of bronchial arteries in patients with cystic fibrosis: therapeutic implications for embolisation.

Bronchial artery embolisation (BAE) is an accepted method of controlling haemoptysis in patients with cystic fibrosis. However, anomalous origin of the bronchial arteries, documented in anatomical and angiographic studies, makes the procedure more difficult and increases the number of recurrences. Clinical records and films from three patients affected by cystic fibrosis with haemoptysis, in which the origin of the bleeding vessels was considered anomalous, out of a total of seven patients who underwent BAE, were reviewed. Physical Fitness in Postmenopausal Women with Fibromyalgia

The purpose of this study was to compare physical fitness and health-related quality-of-life between twenty-three postmenopausal women with fibromyalgia (age 58 +/- 3 years) and eleven healthy women (58 +/- 5 years). Aerobic fitness and isometric force of different muscle groups were measured. Functional performance was assessed by walking and stair-climbing times. Symptoms were assessed by visual analog scale and quality-of-life by RAND-36 questionnaire.
