Sin dai tempi più antichi, il Canale di Sicilia e la città di Trapani hanno costituito un ponte naturale fra il Maghreb e la Sicilia. Il saggio mette a sistema alcuni studi sugli architetti ed imprenditori di origine trapanese che emigrarono in Tunisia fra il XVIII e XIX secolo e ne propone una lettura inedita. Il fil rouge che lega Giuseppe Abita, la famiglia di imprenditori Canino e Domenico Basciano riguarda sia la loro provenienza dalla città siciliana, ma soprattutto l'importante contributo che essi hanno trasferito nell'architettura del periodo coloniale e post-coloniale francese nel Maghreb.

The application of quadrupole devices with high field gradients and small apertures requires precise control over higher order multipole field components. We present a new scheme for performance control and tuning, which allows the illumination of most of the quadrupole device aperture because of the reduction of higher order field components. PURPOSE: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is an extremely prevalent disorder in which elevated blood markers of cardiovascular risk and altered endothelial function have been found. Rising levels of cytomegalovirus (CMV) DNAemia and/or pp65 antigenemia have been observed during pre-emptive ganciclovir therapy in patients undergoing allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-SCT). We assessed the incidence of this event in our series, and investigated whether its occurrence was associated with an impairment in the CMV-specific T-cell response. A total of 36 allo-SCT recipients experienced one or more episodes of active CMV infection (n=68) that were pre-emptively treated with val(ganciclovir). The objective of the study is to evaluate the effect of TNF inhibition on carotid thickness over a 2-year period. 144 women with RA diagnosed according to ACR criteria, without clinical evidence of cardiac and/or vascular disease were enrolled and compared with 78 matched controls. All patients received methotrexate (15–20 mg weekly) for 3 months. Responders (n = 79) continued to be treated with methotrexate, non-responders (n = 40) moved to methotrexate plus a TNF alpha antagonist.
