A constrained genetic algorithm to optimize a maintenance global service

2014

It is herein developed an approach to optimize the maintenance services policy related to a Global Service Contract. In particular, the latter requires the performing of corrective maintenance and replacements of the failed components on a set of equal vehicles of a logistic Company. The tackled problem concerns the determination of an effective opportunistic maintenance policyon the basis of which when a fault occurs, it is replaced the failed component and, depending on the age of the others components, also replacements of others suitable components are performed, even if they are not yet broken, thus saving a substantial amount of system downtime. The problem is mathematically formulate…

Crocidura cossyrensis Contoli, 1989 (Mammalia, Soricidae): karyotype, biochemical genetics and hybridization experiments

2004

The shrew Crocidura cossyrensis Contoli, 1989 from Pantelleria (I), a Mediterranean island 100 km south of Sicily and 70 km west from Tunisia, was investigated in order to understand its origin and its relationship with C. russula from Tunisia, Morocco and Switzerland. With the exception of a single heterozygote centric fusion, C. cossyrensis had a karyotype identical with that of C. russula from Tunisia (2N = 42, NF = 70 to 72), but it differed from C. russula from Morocco and Switzerland (2N = 42, NF = 60). The former have 5-6 pairs of chromosomes with small arms that are acrocentric in the latter. Genetic comparisons with allozyme data revealed small genetic distance (0.04) between C. co…

Population response during an Oceanic Anoxic Event: The case of Posidonotis (Bivalvia) from the Lower Jurassic of the Neuquén Basin, Argentina

2019

Benthonic marine species show a wide range of biological reactions to seawater chemical changes through time, from subtle adjustments to extinction. The Early Toarcian Oceanic Anoxic Event (T-OAE) was recently recognized in the Neuquén Basin, Argentina, confirming its global scope. The event was identified chemostratigraphically on the basis of a relative increase in marine organic carbon and a characteristic negative carbon-isotope excursion (δ13Corg) in bulk rock and fossil wood in the upper Pliensbachian–lower Toarcian interval in the Arroyo Lapa section (Neuquén). Simultaneously with collection of lithological samples, a high-resolution biostratigraphical survey was carried out, and the…

Intestinal tuberculosis as a cause of chronic diarrhoea among patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection: report of two cases.

2001

In Western countries human immunodeficiency virus infection is considered the main risk factor of tuberculous disease, its incidence being 500 times higher in HIV-infected patients than in the general population. Despite the disease frequently present in these patients with extraintestinal manifestations, intestinal localization is rarely observed and often as a consequence of complications such as acute gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation. The diagnosis of intestinal tuberculosis is difficult and is often delayed due to the lack of specific signs and symptoms as well as the low sensitivity of routine methods. A review of the literature is made and personal experience in the diagnosis …

Genetic structure of Tunisian sheep breeds as inferred from genome-wide SNP markers

2020

Abstract Assessing the status of genetic variability of native sheep breeds could provide important clues for research and policy makers to devise better strategies for the conservation and management of genetic resources. In this study, a genetic investigation of Tunisian sheep breeds using a genome-wide scan of approximately 50,000 SNPs was performed. To reconstruct genetic structure and relationships among four sheep breeds, 40 samples belonging to fat-tailed Barbarine, Queue Fine de l’Ouest, Noire de Thibar and D’Man breeds were genotyped using Illumina Ovine SNP50 BeadChip. Tunisian breeds averaged 96 % polymorphic loci with an expected heterozygosity (He = 0.36). Genetic analysis of r…

Bryophytes collected during the 12th “Iter Mediterraneum” (Tunisia, 24 March – 4 April, 2014). First contribution

2015

Part of the bryophytes collected during Iter Mediterraneum XII is listed. Some noteworthy species were found: Dicranella howei, had so far been recorded only doubtfully from Tunisia; Funaria hygrometrica, Grimmia laevigata, Grimmia trichophylla, Imbribryum alpinum, Pogonatum nanum, Rhynchostegium riparioides, Scleropodium touretii, Scorpiurium circinatum, Thamnobryum alopecurum, Timmiella barbuloides, Tortella squarrosa, Tortula muralis and Tortula vahliana, had not been reported from that country for more than half a century.

What Geographical Concentration of Industries in the Tunisian Sahel? Empirical Evidence Using Distance‐Based Measures

2020

International audience; This paper examines the location patterns of manufacturing industries within the most developed regions of Tunisia, the Sahel. We use detailed micro-geographic data and the distance-based approach of Duranton and Overman. While the textile industry shows a high degree of geographical concentration, the high-tech industries are also among the most concentrated, meaning that the Tunisian Sahel gathers a specialised pool in these industries. We further analyse the location patterns of manufacturing sub-sectors: totally and partially exporting plants and domestic, mixed and foreign plants and show that totally exporting plants and foreign and mixed plants exhibit strong …
