L'innovazione nelle aree rurali: l'ambiente e il modello della quintupla elica
2017
In this paper we analyze some specific conditions for local and regional development. Our interest is oriented towards a multidimensional aspect of peripheral and rural areas. The rural areas considered as a productive eco-system reflects a strong relationship between the agriculture and other economic activities, In addition eco-systems must be protected and enhanced to develop innovation models such as the Quadruple and Quintuple Helix, that propose roles and responsibilities for a new regional development trajectory. According to the Quintuple Helix Model and the implementation of the Smart Specialization Strategy, this paper underlines the importance of connecting the innovation process…
Step-along power vector method for astigmatic wavefront propagation
2013
Purpose To propose both a new algebraic solution and a graphical monitoring method for astigmatic wavefront propagation in the framework provided by power vectors. Methods The generalised propagation equation describing the propagation of astigmatic wavefronts from one plane to another is adapted to the power vectors formalism using a novel algorithm based on a step-along method. The step-along procedure is directly applied to the tuple of power vectors [M, J0, J45] representing an arbitrary astigmatic wavefront and it permits the calculation of the tuple of power vectors [M′, J′0, J′45] after a given propagation distance. This is achieved mathematically first by temporarily rotating the as…
On symplectically rigid local systems of rank four and Calabi–Yau operators
2013
AbstractWe classify all Sp4(C)-rigid, quasi-unipotent local systems and show that all of them have geometric origin. Furthermore, we investigate which of those having a maximal unipotent element are induced by fourth order Calabi–Yau operators. Via this approach, we reconstruct all known Calabi–Yau operators inducing an Sp4(C)-rigid monodromy tuple and obtain closed formulae for special solutions of them.
Some fourth order CY-type operators with non symplectically rigid monodromy
2012
We study tuples of matrices with rigidity index two in $\Sp_4(\mathbb{C})$, which are potentially induced by differential operators of Calabi-Yau type. The constructions of those monodromy tuples via algebraic operations and middle convolutions and the related constructions on the level differential operators lead to previously known and new examples.
A Web-Based Coordination Infrastructure for Grid Collective Services
2004
Virtual Organizations (VO) consisting of heterogeneous institutions and individuals that share resources dynamically and in a coordinated way to support collaborative problem-solving are emerging in many fields. Consequently, new types of distributed infrastructures known as Grids have been proposed to cope with these new sharing requirements. Grids offer sets of collective services to support collaborative tasks which are distributed in nature and need asynchronous communication. Existing approaches to this problem lack of flexibility, adaptability and are tightly bound to the collective service that is provided. We present here a generic event model to build collective services that requi…
Alignment free Dissimilarities for sequence classification
2015
One way to represent a DNA sequence is to break it down into substrings of length L, called L-tuples, and count the occurence of each L-tuple in the sequence. This representation defines a mapping of a sequence into a numerical space by a numerical feature vector of fixed length, that allows to measure sequence similarity in an alignment free way simply using disssimilarity functions between vectors. This work presents a benchmark study of 4 alignment free disssimilarity functions between sequences, computed on their L-tuples representation, for the purpose of sequence classification. In our experiments, we have tested the classes of geometric-based, correlation-based and information-based …
Probability of mutually commuting n-tuples in some classes of compact groups
2008
In finite groups the probability that two randomly chosen elements commute or randomly ordered n−tuples of elements mutually commute have recently attracted interest by many authors. There are some classical results estimating the bounds for this kind of probability so that the knowledge of the whole structure of the group can be more accurate. The same problematic has been recently extended to certain classes of infinite compact groups in [2], obtaining restrictions on the group of the inner automorphisms. Here such restrictions are improved for a wider class of infinite compact groups.
Isoclinism in probability of commuting n-tuples
2009
Strong restrictions on the structure of a group $G$ can be given, once that it is known the probability that a randomly chosen pair of elements of a finite group $G$ commutes. Introducing the notion of mutually commuting n-tuples for compact groups (not necessary finite), the present paper generalizes the probability that a randomly chosen pair of elements of $G$ commutes. We shall state some results concerning this new concept of probability which has been recently treated in [3]. Furthermore a relation has been found between the notion of mutually commuting n-tuples and that of isoclinism between two arbitrary groups.
Which regions produce the most innovation policy research?
2022
[EN] This article uses the data indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection and Scopus databases up to and including the year 2020 to map leading regions and trending topics in academic innovation policy research. The country analysis highlights four leading regions in this research field: Western Europe (led by the UK, the Netherlands, Germany, and Spain), North America (led by the USA), Scandinavia (led by Sweden and Denmark), and Asia-Pacific (led by China and Australia). The most common keywords are used to develop a conceptual framework. Applying the Tree of Science approach, we classify the most influential studies into three categories: foundational studies (the roots), structural …
A Research Journey from National Systems of Innovation to National Systems of Entrepreneurship: Introducing the Sextuple Helix
2021
[EN] National systems of innovation (NSI) have attracted substantial interest from public administrations, the scientific community and international organizations. Innovation is a key factor for countries to be competitive in the today's global economy. Entrepreneurship is an innovation source that has gained importance in NSI research over the last few decades. This focus on entrepreneurship in the context of NSI has led scholars to propose novel concepts such as entrepreneurial ecosystems and the national system of entrepreneurship (NSE). This paper uses bibliometric methods and the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS CC) database to explore how entrepreneurship fits into NSI research an…
