O Brasil no espelho de Amaterasu: O Japão de Aluísio Azevedo

2013

A theoretical model for laser and powder particles interaction during laser cladding

2002

Abstract Interactions between the laser and the powder particles lead to attenuation of the laser and make the powder particles temperatures raise. According to given stream spread and speed of the powder particles, their temperature distribution at the surface of the workpiece is calculated. The attenuation of the laser induced by the cloud is also computed. These results are plotted for the case of a Gaussian distribution. Results show that with the increasing of the powder jet incidence angle, both temperature distribution of powder particles and attenuation of the laser have very different profiles. Their effects on the clad should be considered for modelling of laser cladding.

International competitiveness, job creation and job destruction—An establishment-level study of German job flows

2010

Abstract This study investigates the impact of international competitiveness on net employment, job creation, job destruction, and gross job flows for a representative sample of German establishments from 1993 to 2005. We find a statistically significant but economically small effect of real exchange rate shocks on employment, comparable to the one found in studies for the United States. However, contrary to the United States, the employment adjustment (among surviving firms) operates mainly through the job creation rather than the job destruction rate. Job destruction occurs essentially through discrete events such as restructuring, outsourcing and bankruptcy. We suggest that these finding…

A FAST Method to Achieve Flexible Production Programming Systems

2008

One of the main critical problems in manufacturing system domains is the production scheduling process, because an agile and reactive production planning and scheduling system is essential in manufacturing. The production scheduling process is a complex problem in which finding a suitable production scheduling can greatly increase the effectiveness of highly flexible production processes. Nevertheless, this high flexibility makes the production scheduling and acquisition of relevant data quite complicated. Therefore, there is a strong demand for a universal and flexible tool for production scheduling capable of increasing the utilization of resources and that supports a decision-making proc…

Logistyka a zarządzanie cyklem kapitału pracującego – rozwiązania stosowane w skali przedsiębiorstwa (Logistics vs. working capital cycle management …

2016

Richardsa i E.J. Laughlina, a spośród jego składowych logistyka bezpośrednio wpływa na długość cyklu zapasów (F2F), obok cyklu należności (02C) oraz zobowiązań (P2P). Głównymi instrumentami stosowanymi w przedsiębiorstwie w celu skrócenia cyklu F2F są Lean Manufacturing i Just in Time, zorientowane na ujawnianie i redukcję marnotrawstwa w przedsiębiorstwie, czego skutkiem jest zmniejszenie poziomu zapasów. History, Processing and Quality Enhancement of Traditional Egyptian Kariesh Cheese: A Review

2013

Kariesh is a soft acid cheese made from skimmed cow's milk, buffalo milk or buttermilk from sour cream; apparently it is made only on farmsteads. It is considered to be one of the most important traditional Egyptian dairy products, commonly made in the Egyptian countryside, especially in small villages, as low-income people such as farmers use Kariesh cheese in their diet owing to its high protein content, low fat and price. Therefore, nowadays, Kariesh cheese is a promising food in the avoidance of health problems associated with fat, particularly for old people. The aim of this article is to provide a wide range of information on Egyptian Kariesh cheese starting with a brief description o…

Ketogenic diet and phytoextracts. Comparison of the efficacy of Mediterranean, Zone and Tisanoreica diet on some health risk factors

2010

The purpose of this work was to test the efficacy of three kind of different diet on some health risk factors. The primary objective of the present study was to examine the effects of diets, amount of carbohydrate intake and use of phytoextracts on weight loss, body composition and related risk factors and on metabolic values as Resting Energy Expenditure (REE) and Respiratory Ratio (RR).We tested 44 subjects randomly assigned to one of 3 groups of diet: Mediterranean (MED), Zone (ZON) and Tisanoreica® i.e. ketogenic diet plus phytoextracts (TIS). Anthropometry, blood chemistry and urine analysis were performed. After 40 days TIS led to a significant average weight and fat loss compared to …

Membrane Bioreactors for wastewater reuse: Respirometric assessment of biomass activity during a two year survey

2018

Abstract Stricter effluent limits, water shortage conditions, land availability requires today even more the needs of advanced wastewater treatments. Attractive solutions come from membrane bioreactors (MBR), Integrated Fixed Film Activated Sludge (IFAS) or combinations (i.e., IFAS-MBRs). One crucial aspect for the applicability of this overall new technology, compared to the conventional activated sludge systems, is the lack of knowledge for design and manage (e.g., kinetic constants, optimal operative conditions etc.). In view of the above frame, the aim of the present study was to assess the kinetic and stoichiometric parameters of bacterial species in MBRs by means of respirometric tech…

Food loss and waste in food supply chains. A systematic literature review and framework development approach

2021

Abstract This study examines the state of the art of the literature in the domain of food loss and waste (FLW) in food supply chains (FSC). The authors used a systematic literature review (SLR) approach to examine and synthesise the findings of the existing literature to identify the key research themes, research gaps and avenues of future research on FLW in FSC. To this end, this SLR considered 152 articles relevant for the review. The authors uncovered the extant literature in the domain by presenting the research profile of the selected studies, along with thematic analysis. The authors identified eight key themes from the extant literature. The themes range from factors responsible for …
