An Optical Technique for Springback Measurement in Axisymmetrical Deep Drawing Operations

Abstract In this paper, a measurement technique based on the shadow moire method has been set up to evaluate the springback phenomenon in deep drawing operations. Two proper coefficients are introduced to quantitatively describe the investigated effect. In particular, the proposed technique is able to acquire the final profile of the drawn parts along one or more lateral contour, once extracted out from the dies, and compare such profile with the ideal one derived from the dies CAD geometry. Effect of muscle type and animal category on fatty acid composition of bresaola made from meat of Cinisara cattle: preliminary investigation

The bresaola could represent an alternative commercial opportunity for autochthonous dairy cattle farms. Therefore, a study was carried out to investigate the fatty acid (FA) composition of bresaola made using Semimembranosus (SMm), Semitendinosus (STm), and Biceps brachii (BBm) muscles from grazing young bulls (GB), housed young bulls (HB) or grazing adult cows (AC) of Cinisara breed. Animal category, fat content, feeding system, and type of muscle influenced the FA composition of bresaola. Allium paniculatum L. is commonly recorded from the Euro-Mediterranean and Irano-Turanian regions. Evidence from literature and herbarium collections revealed that many different taxa of A. sect. Codonoprasum Rchb., all characterized by big size, diffuse and densely flowered umbrella, very long spathe valves, long pedicels, and cylindrical-campanulate perigon, have been wrongly attributed to this species thus affecting records on its geographic distribution and morphological characterization. Intrinsic bioremediation potential of a chronically polluted marine coastal area.

A microbiological survey of the Priolo Bay (eastern coast of Sicily, Ionian Sea), a chronically polluted marine coastal area, was carried out in order to discern its intrinsic bioremediation potential. Microbiological analysis, 16S rDNA-based DGGE fingerprinting and PLFAs analysis were performed on seawater and sediment samples from six stations on two transects. Higher diversity and variability among stations was detected by DGGE in sediment than in water samples although seawater revealed higher diversity of culturable hydrocarbon-degrading bacteria. We propose for the first time an one-pot synthesis of carbon nanodots-poly(D,L-lactide) (CDs-PLA) nanocomposites, obtained by a simple reactive melt-extrusion process involving polar surface groups of multicolor CDs and ester bonds of PLA chains. Apart from providing an excellent method to produce polyester-coated CDs, our protocol allows obtaining perfect PLA@CDs blends giving rise to homogeneous extruded PLA@CDs filaments (ePLA@CDs) suitable for 3D printing applications (e.g., additive manufacturing for biomaterials and biodegradable encoded polymer ink technology). Opuntia cladodes as functional ingredient in durum wheat bread: rheological, sensory, and chemical characterization

Cladodes are considered by-products of Opuntia ficus-indica cultivation. Their addition as source of antioxidants to durum wheat breads could have effects on preventing cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and inflammation. The inclusion of 0-5-10-15% cladodes, harvested in three different locations, on quality and antioxidant properties of fortified durum wheat breads has been evaluated. The enrichment with 10% of cladodes resulted in an increase in the content of total phenolics (14.8 vs 2.7 mg GAE/100 g of control bread), a decrease of IC50 (3.28 vs 49.7 mg/ml of control bread), good rheological characteristics of loaves and largely positive evaluation by panel test.
