From a fixed bed Ag–alumina catalyst to a modified reactor design: how to enhance the crucial heterogeneous–homogeneous reactions in HC-SCR

Abstract A highly active Ag/alumina catalyst for continuous reduction of NO to nitrogen with n-octane under lean conditions was prepared. It was observed in the reactor set-up experiments for optimization of the converter, that surface generated gas phase species are crucial for obtaining high conversion. EPR and matrix isolated FTIR studies at low temperature (10–18 K) were performed for identification of the radicals. Experimental data, observed at steady state conditions in the temperature range 300–550 °C, was used to produce an artificial neural network model of the catalytic converter with four catalyst beds.

In this work the realization of an energetic hub based on a high-performances dish Stirling system, at the DEIM of the University of Palermo, is presented. The realized system is the first top rated solar thermodynamic plant directly connected to the national electric grid. The connection permits the electricity injection into the grid and allows to access to national renewable energy incentives regime. The system realization was possible thanks to an international cooperation between the University of Palermo and the private company Horizon S.r.l., official partner of Ripasso Energy AB, owner of this technology. The present paper discusses the use of modified Lotka-Volterra equations in order to stochastically simulate the behaviour of Listeria monocytogenes and Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) during the fermentation period (168 h) of a typical Sicilian salami. For this purpose, the differential equation system is set considering T, pH and aw as stochastic variables. Each of them is governed by dynamics that involve a deterministic linear decrease as a function of the time t and an "additive noise" term which instantaneously mimics the fluctuations of T, pH and aw. Wear and fracture are the main causes of tool scrapping. However fracture plays a major role for increasing values of the hardness and brittleness of tool materials or when low-cobalt tungsten carbides are used or in interrupted cutting conditions where it is the most relevant factor for tool scrapping. In order to obtain the optimal values of the cutting speed both these factors should be considered. A stochastic method for robustness analysis in sorting problems

ELECTRE TRI is a multiple criteria decision aiding sorting method with a history of successful real-life applications. In ELECTRE TRI, values for certain parameters have to be provided. We propose a new method, SMAA-TRI, that is based on stochastic multicriteria acceptability analysis (SMAA), for analyzing the stability of such parameters. The stability analysis can be used for deriving robust conclusions. SMAA-TRI allows ELECTRE TRI to be used with uncertain, arbitrarily distributed values for weights, the lambda cutting level, and profiles. These have been widely investigated in both the strategic management and operations management fields. This paper contributes to the literature in three ways.
