Abstract In this study, the temperature distribution in the cutting zone was determined by integrating thermal analytical and simulation models of orthogonal cutting process with uncoated and coated carbide tools. Abstract The purpose of this paper is to report on research on how product-related information can guide sustainable product use in the context of laundry detergents. More precisely, the purpose of the study was designed to analyse how the detergent package information and dosing instructions are read, understood and followed in the Finnish households. Data collection methods included interviews in 340 Finnish households in 2004 and 299 households in 2005 with a standardised questionnaire. Abstract In a conventional manufacturing system, cutting parameters have to be fixed in order to pursue the economical and productive target related to each cutting operation. In a Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS), as a consequence of the unbalanced workload due to the mutual interaction among the shared resources, the optimization of each operation does not allow the optimum of the global production system to be reached. A fuzzy programming model is developed in this paper in order to select cutting speeds of the operations in the production plan as a satisfying compromise solution between single operation and the integrated system targets.

When a single line to ground fault happens on the MV side of a HV/MV system, only a small portion of the fault current is injected into the ground by the ground-grid of the faulty substation. In fact the fault current is distributed between grounding electrodes and MV cables sheaths. In systems with isolated neutral or with resonant earthing this may be sufficient to provide safety from electric shock. Fatigue crack growth behaviour of four structural steels in air and in a geothermal fluid environment

Abstract In recent years the exploitation of geothermal energy has expanded rapidly in Italy. This has created a requirement for improved drilling technology, to reduce the number of failures occuring in the drills, which is more frequent than in oil wells. This paper deals with the results obtained in FCCR tests of four materials both in air and in two types of aggressive environments. Deterioration takes place by fatigue, corrosion fatigue and hydrogen embrittlement. It is concluded that the steel G105 is a suitable substitute for S135 in drill pipes, and inspections between drillings may be adequate to prevent failure for small-curvature wells.
