Subtype-Specific Desensitization of Human Endothelin ETA and ETB Receptors Reflects Differential Receptor Phosphorylation

Endothelins regulate blood pressure in mammals through G protein-coupled receptors. Two receptor subtypes, ETA and ETB, exist which differ by their agonist profiles. Here we show subtype-specific differences in the inactivation of these endothelin receptors. Using a modified inositol phosphate accumulation assay, we found that stimulation of ETA by endothelin-1 results in sustained activation of the subtype, retaining >30% of its initial activity even 20 min after agonist administration, whereas the ETB rapidly deactivated after agonist stimulation, losing >80% of its initial activity within 5 min after endothelin application. The Jyvaskyla Longitudinal Study of Personality and Social Development is an ongoing long-term study that began in 1968. From the very beginning, data have been collected within a framework of emotional and behavioral regulation. This chapter presents the framework model and its theoretical rationales. Data collection waves are described, first, from childhood to adolescence, and second, in adulthood. Results on continuity in socioemotional behavior and its developmental background, problem behavior and health, and positive development are presented so as not to overlap with results in the other chapters of this book. Investigation of the aqueous transmetalation of π-allylpalladium with indium salt: the use of the Pd(OAc)2–TPPTS catalyst

pi-Allylpalladium complexes could be generated in water by the palladium(0) water soluble catalyst prepared in situ from palladium acetate and TPPTS. These complexes were transmetalated with indium to react with benzaldehyde. The aqueous solution of Pd(0)(TPPTS)(n) could be reused without deterioration of the catalyst in the first and second recycling. The system proved to be efficient with primary and secondary allylic substrates. The stereochemical outcome of the allylation through umpolung of allylpalladium, was also studied using models with a restraint conformation.

Niemann-Pick type C1 (NPC1) promotes the transport of LDL receptor (LDL-R)-derived cholesterol from late endosomes/lysosomes to other cellular compartments. NPC1-deficient cells showed impaired regulation of liver_X receptor (LXR) and sterol regulatory element-binding protein (SREBP) target genes. Bovine lung endothelin-B receptor has been isolated in good yield with a new procedure involving the use of endothelin-1 coupled to iminobiotin with a long spacer and avidin-agarose affinity chromatography. Contrary to previous reports, evidence has been obtained that the native form of this receptor corresponds to the full-length transcript expected on the basis of cDNA clones. Preoperative progressive pneumoperitoneum and botulinum toxin type A are useful tools in the preparation of patients with loss of domain hernias. Both procedures are complementary in the surgical repair, especially with the use of prosthetic techniques without tension, that allow a integral management of these patients. The aim of this paper is to update concepts related to both procedures, emphasizing the advantages that take place in the preoperative management of loss of domain hernias.

Objectives This study aimed to assess the psychometric properties of the Italian versions of the Devaluation of Consumers Scale (DCS) and the Devaluation of Consumer Families Scale (DCFS), twoshort-scales examining public stigma towards people with mental disorders and their relatives.
