Tubular markers are associated with decline in kidney function in proteinuric type 2 diabetic patients.

2011

Our aim was to investigate u-NGAL, u-KIM1 and p-FGF23 and prediction of decline in kidney function in type 2 diabetic patients with proteinuria. We performed a follow-up study, follow-up median (range) 3.5 (1-5) years. At baseline u-NGAL, u-KIM1 and p-FGF23 (ELISA) was measured and patients were followed yearly with estimated(e)-GFR (MDRD) and u-albumin.We included 177 patients (44 women), mean age (SD) 59 (9) years. eGFR 90 (24) ml/min/1.73 m(2) at baseline, u-albumin: median (interquartile range) 104 (39-238) mg/24 h. Patients with levels of u-KIM1 in the highest quartile had a greater decline in eGFR than patients with the lowest quartile 6.0 (5.4) versus 3.2 (5.5) ml/min/1.73 m(2) per ye…

Soluble transferrin receptor and risk of type 2 diabetes in the obese and nonobese.

2017

Background Studies evaluating the relationship between soluble transferrin receptor (sTfR), a biomarker inversely related to body iron stores, and risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) are scarce and inconclusive. Furthermore, sTfR concentrations have been observed to be significantly higher in obese than in nonobese individuals. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the relationship between sTfR and the risk of T2DM in obese and nonobese subjects. Design A nested case–control study of 153 cases of newly diagnosed diabetic subjects, 73 obese and 80 nonobese, and 306 individually matched controls, 138 obese and 166 nonobese, who did not develop T2DM for a median 6-year follow-up (…

Historical mortars dating from OSL signal of fine grain fraction enriched in quartz

2013

Abstract In the last years the mortar dating through Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) techniques has become a viable support for chronological estimations (date of construction or restoration episodes) of historical buildings. However, the dating of mortar has still open issues mainly regarding the assessment of the bleaching degree of quartz, the analysis of the OSL processes for this type of samples and the need to do appropriate tests for the most correct evaluation of the equivalent dose. This paper discusses the results obtained by OSL dating (blue diode stimulation) on the polymineral fine grain phase, enriched in quartz, extracted from lime mortar samples collected from differ…

Les commissions de quartier à l’heure de l’engagement écocitoyen, à Dijon : entre communication stratégique publique locale et construction d’un espa…

2018

This doctoral thesis in Information and Communication Science explores the question of eco-citizen commitment in the neighborhood commissions of Dijon. Many academic or more popular publications in different fields of research (Information and Communication Science, social and environmental psychology, political science, law, philosophy, ecology, etc.) have addressed this issue in recent years. Once the actors of the question had been defined (the inhabitants, elected officials, technicians, representatives of structures and associations, etc.), it was possible to study different instances of participatory democracy in Dijon. The following question ensued : "How are the neighborhood commiss…

Quantitative x-ray diffraction phase analysis of coarse airborne particulate collected by cascade impactor sampling

1997

Mineralogical composition of Castellon (Spanish Mediterranean coast) atmospheric aerosol was studied by X-ray diffraction by sampling with a cascade impactor without filters. Quantitative phase analysis of natural phases present in the atmospheric coarse aerosol was performed using a modified version of the computer program MENGE, that uses the standardless X-ray method developed by Rius for the quantitative analysis of multiphase mixtures, adapted for PC running. Presence of quartz, calcite and gypsum was identified in the atmospheric aerosol and we have quantified their amounts using the standardless method.

THE REDISTRIBUTION OF RARE-EARTH ELEMENTS IN SECONDARY MINERALS OF HYDROTHERMAL VEINS, SCHWARZWALD, SOUTHWESTERN GERMANY

2011

Minerals of the rare-earth elements (REE) occur as supergene phases in the Schwarzwald ore district, southwestern Germany. They form by alteration of hydrothermal fluorite – barite – quartz – carbonate veins with various associations, including Cu– Pb, Pb–Zn and Co–Bi–Ag–U assemblages in sandstones, gneisses and granites. The REE minerals, including mixite-group minerals ([REE,Bi,Ca,Pb]Cu 6 (AsO 4 ,AsO 3 OH) 3 OH 6 •3H 2 O), rhabdophane and churchite (REEPO 4 •H 2 O and REEPO 4 •2H 2 O), chukhrovite (Ca 3 REEAl 2 SO 4 F 13 •10H 2 O) and bastnasite (REECO 3 F), were analyzed by electron microprobe and LA–ICP–MS. In addition, REE concentrations in secondary fluorite, calcite and Mn oxides cog…

Epidemiology and characteristics of febrile neutropenia in oncology patients from Spanish tertiary care hospitals: PINNACLE study.

2015

Febrile neutropenia (FN) is one of the most common adverse events associated with myelosuppressive chemotherapy for cancer treatment. The objective of this study was to describe the incidence of hospitalization due to FN in Spanish tertiary care hospitals (PINNACLE study). This epidemiological, retrospective, multicenter, nationwide study involved 119 patients from oncology units of 10 Spanish tertiary care hospitals who were admitted for FN. The primary endpoint was to assess the epidemiology and characteristics of FN. The incidence of admissions due to FN in oncology patients was 2.0% (interquartile range [IQR], 1.6–3.0). In terms of fever and absolute neutrophil count (ANC), 37.0% of the…

Oxygen isotopes in single micrometer-sized quartz grains: tracing the source of Saharan dust over long-distance atmospheric transport

2002

Abstract Oxygen isotope compositions were measured by ion microprobe in individual micrometer-sized quartz grains extracted from one aerosol sample collected on the Cape Verde Islands and from four surface samples (three soils and one sediment) representing potential source regions of aerosols in Western and Central Africa (Morocco, Algeria, Niger, and Chad). A large range of δ18O values, from +6.2‰ to +39.3‰ is present within the aerosol quartz grains. The different size fractions of the quartz grains from the surface samples overlap nearly entirely this range but show significant differences in their δ18O distributions for the different size fractions of the grains (i.e., different modes,…

Gas—liquid chromatographic analyses

1984

Abstract The gas chromatography (GC) of n -alkyl acetates (CH 3 COOR), chloroacetates (CH 2 ClCOOR), dichloroacetates (CHCl 2 COOR) and trichloroacetates (CCl 3 COOR), where the alcohol chain length (R) varied between 1 and 8, and certain of their monochlorinated derivatives, 176 compounds altogether, has been studied on SE-30 and OV-351 glass capillary columns under the same operating conditions. The isomeric monochlorinated esters are eluted in direct order from the 1- chloro to the ω-chloro isomer, the separation of the isomers being complete on OV- 351. On SE-30, however, the peaks of the 6- and 7-chlorooctyl esters are partly overlapped. The separation of the mixtures of odd- and e…
