La figura di Cassandra sulla scena tragica di V secolo: le testimonianze dell’Agamennone e delle Troiane

In both Aeschylus’ Agamemnon and Euripides’ Trojan Women, Cassandra plays the role of tragic heroine, subjected to Apollo’s manipulation, aware of the past and the present of the house of Atreus and able to predict the future; but on stage the people she speaks with do not seem to understand her predictions and are not persuaded by her words. The aim of the paper is to focus on the main features of the tragic character of Cassandra in Aeschylus and Euripides and to investigate the levels of manipulation and communication.

The progressive decline of tragedy, as a literary genre, linked to the downfall of a philosophical framework of absolute values (both religious and not), activated a deep reflection about the origin and meaning of tragic. Statistical model of the transverse ply cracking in cross-ply laminates by strength and fracture toughness based failure criteria

Cross-ply laminate subjected to tensile loading provides a relatively well understood and widely used model system for studying progressive cracking of the transverse ply. This test allows to identify material strength and/or toughness characteristics as well as to establish relation between damage level and the composite stiffness reduction. The transverse ply cracking is an inherently stochastic process due to the random variability of local material properties of the plies. Quasispecies dynamics and molecular evolution of human norovirus capsid P region during chronic infection.

In this novel study, we have for the first time identified evolutionarily conserved capsid residues in an individual chronically infected with norovirus (GGII.3). From 2000 to 2003, a total of 147 P1-1 and P2 capsid sequences were sequenced and investigated for evolutionarily conserved and functionally important residues by the evolutionary trace (ET) algorithm. The ET algorithm revealed more absolutely conserved residues (ACR) in the P1-1 domain (47/53, 88 %) as compared with the P2 domain (86/133, 64 %). Caeruleus: significado cromático en la poesía latina del s. I a.C.

En este artículo se estudia el color azul a través de su significante caeruleus y su familia léxica en los poetas latinos del s. I a.C. y, especialmente, en la Eneida, poema en el que adquiere una especial relevancia. Se analiza su etimología, significado y valores; su relación con ?????? del que constituye una traducción. Se concluye que los poetas latinos usan este radical especialmente para el mar y las aguas (ríos, fuentes, tormentas), el cielo o el mundo vegetal, un uso ausente en Homero e infrecuente en la poesía griega.
