Stochastic seismic analysis of MDOF structures with viscous damper devices

Fluid damper devices in civil structures such as buildings or bridges are commonly used as energy absorbers for seismic protection. The problem in the response analysis of structures with filled dampers mainly consists in the fact that, due to the strongly nonlinear behavior of such equipments, the response spectrum technique fails. In this paper by using the concept of power spectral density function compatible with the elastic response spectrum and the stochastic linearization technique, the equivalent damping ratio is obtained. This socioculturally informed study explores how highly educated Finnish language learners represent their agency in visual narratives. Learners (n=59) were asked to draw two pictures of themselves as Finnish language users and provide verbal interpretations of the drawings. The aim of using visual narratives is to reach aspects such as feelings and beliefs which might be difficult to express verbally. The data were analyzed first by using visual grammar set out by Kress and van Leeuwen (2006) and secondly by content analysis. Virskorekcijas pielietojamība tuvredzības progresijas novērtēšanā ortokeratoloģijas pacientiem

Darbs ir uzrakstīts angļu valodā uz 93 lapaspusēm. Tas satur 49 attēlus, 24 tabulas un 95 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Šī darba mērķis ir pārbaudīt, vai virskorekcija ir derīga metode tuvredzības progresēšanas novērtēšanai ortokeratoloģijā. Hipotēze ir atrast lielākas izmaiņas gados jaunākiem pacientiem nekā pieaugušajiem, kā tas ir norādīts literatūrā. Pētījumā iekļauti 192 Eiropeīdās rases subjekti vecumā no 6 līdz 56 gadiem (vidēji 19,61±10,30). Izmantojot retrospektīvu analīzi, no objektīva BOZR kontaktlēcas parametra tiek iegūta virskorekcija (ORX). Jaunākiem cilvēkiem ir lielākas ORX vērtības, bet pieaugušajiem nav atšķirības (p<0,05). Redzes asuma treniņu efektivitāte

Bakalaura darbs ir uzrakstīts angļu valodā uz 27. lappasspusēm, satur 12 attēlus, 1. tabulu un tajā ir atsauksmes uz 21. literatūras avotu. Darba mērķis ir novērtēt redzes asumu uzlabojošo treniņu efektivitāti. Viens no iemesliem pazeminātai redzei var būt palielināta tuvuma slodze, kā arī pazeminātas spējas veikt dažādus vizuālos uzdevumus. Trenējot šīs spējas, redzes sistēma labāk pielāgojas palielinātai tuvuma slodzei. Pētījumā piedalījās 24 bērni, kuriem tika doti dažādi redzes treniņi 3 mēnešu periodā. Promocijas darbs ir izstrādāts disertācijas veidā fizikas nozarē materiālu fizikas apakšnozarē. Pētījums tika veikts LU Materiālu mehānikas institūtā. Darbs saistīts ar aktuālu un jaunu pētījumu virzienu: bioinspirēto funkciju tālāku attīstīšanu slodzi nesošos kompozītos. Tās ir mehānisku triecienu vizuālās indikācijas un polimēru matricas vaskulārās pašdziedināšanas funkcijas. Šīs funkcijas tika nodrošinātas, izveidojot viedus slāņus un iebūvējot tos kompozītā. Pētījumā tika noskaidrotas piemērotās pārbaužu secības, attīstītas kvantitatīvas metodes un mehānisks modelis, lai novērtētu jauno funkciju efektivitāti kompozītos. Hungarian private linguistic landscape in South-West Slovakia

In the field of Linguistic Landscape research little attention has been paid to the situations where a minoritized group gives the regional majority, such as South-‐West Slovakia where Hungarians form the majority. A clear majority of public signs, also in the region with a Hungarian majority, are only in Slovak, especially in the ‘official’, public sphere. In rural communities, signs posted by private citizens can be relatively frequent, too. In the truly non-‐ commercial private sphere, minorities have autonomy in public language choice. A Moldvai Csángómagyar Oktatási Program kutatása és támogatása egy több éves (2016– 2021), a Finn Akadémia által támogatott projekt (projektszáma, 299133), amelynek anyaga 30 moldvai településen folyatatott, 2017–2019 között végzett terepmunkából áll. A terepmunka szakaszai során számos vizuális és digitális módszertani eljárás is bevezetésre kerül, s az ezek segítségével készített anyagokból nagy terjedelmű, multimodális adatbázis jön létre. In visual working memory (VWM) tasks, participants’ performances can be improved through the use of dimension-based retro-cues, which direct internal attention to prioritize a particular dimension (e.g., color or orientation) of VWM representations even after the stimuli disappear. This phenomenon is known as the dimension-based retro-cue benefit (RCB).
