Hyötyä ja kaunistusta : Keski-Suomen Emäntäkoulun historiallinen puutarha

Tämä pro gradu -tutkielma käsittelee Keski-Suomen Emäntäkoulun historiallista puutarhaa ja puistomaista ympäristöä. Emäntäkoulu perustettiin Mankolan tilalle lähelle Jyväskylän keskustaa, ja maataloushallituksen arkkitehti Jalmari Peltosen suunnittelema koulurakennus valmistui vuonna 1932. Koulussa opiskeltiin monipuolisia talouden- ja kodinhoidon töitä, joiden katsottiin kuluvan maalaistalon emännälle. Emäntäkouluun kuului laaja koulupuutarha, jolla oli tärkeä asema opetuksessa ja sisäoppilaitoksen ruokatalouden ylläpitämisessä. Tutkielman kohteena on Kainuussa sijaitsevan Paltamon kahdentoista rantakylän muisteltu muutos 1940–1960-lukujen välisellä ajalla nuottakalastuksen kautta tarkasteltuna. Tutkimuksen tieteenfilosofinen pohja on sosiaalinen konstruktivismi. Pääajatuksena on, että muistelu on sosiaalisesti ja kulttuurisesti tuotettua. Tutkimusmenetelmäni on muisteluaineiston kvalitatiivinen analyysi. Aineisto on osa keräämääni Nuotta-apajilla -haastatteluaineistoa, käytän aineistosta 26:n informantin haastatteluja. Muisteltu matka : tutkimus suomalaisten Viron-matkojen kilpakeruuaineistosta

Tässä tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan Suomalaisen Kirjallisuuden Seuran kansanrunousarkiston ja Tuglas-seuran keräämää muistitiedon kilpakeruuaineistoa suomalaisten Viron-matkoista vuosilta 2009-2010. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena on selvittää, millainen kuva suomalaisten matkailusta Neuvosto-Viron aikaiseen Tallinnaan rakentuu heidän muistelukerronnassaan, eli millaisia asioita muistelijat ovat kokeneet merkityksellisiksi jakaa matkastaan. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu 23 suomalaisen muistelijan matkakertomuksesta, jotka käsittelevät Neuvosto-Tallinnaa ja sijoittuvat vuosien 1965-1989 väliselle ajalle. There is vast heterogeneity in the human willingness to weigh others' interests in decision making. This heterogeneity concerns the motivational intricacies as well as the strength of other-regarding behaviors, and raises the question how one can parsimoniously model and characterize heterogeneity across several dimensions of social preferences while still being able to predict behavior over time and across situations. We tackle this task with an experiment and a structural model of preferences that allows us to simultaneously estimate outcome-based and reciprocity-based social preferences. The extant studies have identified two distinct attitudes of consumers about food label information: one is its usefulness and the second elucidates the avoidance. The richest superclusters : I Morphology

We study the morphology of the richest superclusters from the catalogues of superclusters of galaxies in the 2dF Galaxy Redshift Survey and compare the morphology of real superclusters with model superclusters in the Millennium Simulation. We use Minkowski functionals and shapefinders to quantify the morphology of superclusters: their sizes, shapes, and clumpiness. We generate empirical models of simple geometry to understand which morphologies correspond to the supercluster shapefinders. We show that rich superclusters have elongated, filamentary shapes with high-density clumps in their core regions. Multisensory texture exploration at the tip of the pen

A tool for the multisensory stylus-based exploration of virtual textures was used to investigate how different feedback modalities (static or dynamically deformed images, vibration, sound) affect exploratory gestures. To this end, we ran an experiment where participants had to steer a path with the stylus through a curved corridor on the surface of a graphic tablet/display, and we measured steering time, dispersion of trajectories, and applied force.
