Comparisons of two diaphragm ultrasound-teaching programs: a multicenter randomized controlled educational study

Abstract Background This study aims to ascertain whether (1) an educational program is sufficient to achieve adequate Diaphragm Ultrasound (DUS) assessments on healthy volunteers and (2) combining a video tutorial with a practical session is more effective in making learners capable to obtain accurate DUS measurements, as opposed to sole video tutorial. Results We enrolledstep 1: 172 volunteers naïve to ultrasound. After watching a video tutorial, a questionnaire was administered and considered to be passed when at least 70% of the questions were correctly answered. AbstractCystic renal lesions are a common incidental finding on routinely imaging examinations. Although a benign simple cyst is usually easy to recognize, the same is not true for complex and multifocal cystic renal lesions, whose differential diagnosis includes both neoplastic and non-neoplastic conditions. In this review, we will show a series of cases in order to provide tips to identify benign cysts and differentiate them from malignant ones.

Methods Prospective study of 135 patients with suspected CTS seen 3 times: at baseline, then at short-term (3 months) and long-term (15–36 months) follow-up. To the Editor: We read with great interest the retrospective case series by A Madide and J Smith,[1] describing brain ultrasound (US) findings of neonates with Serratia marcescens hospital-acquired infections. S. marcescens is a Gram-negative organism that frequently colonises neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). This bacterium can cause severe brain infections in neonates, with irreversible neurological damage and long-term neurodevelopmental impairment. The present thesis introduces several ultrasound-assisted digestion methods developed for the determination of toxic element concentrations in ash samples by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Ultrasound-assisted digestion is a quite new technique used for sample pre-treatment purposes, especially in difficult sample matrixes. Elements determined are As, Ba, Co, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Sb, Sr, V, and Zn. Most of the elements determined exist at a trace or ultra trace level in ashes and most are potential risks in the environment or human body even at low concentrations.
