Including resummation in the NLO BK equation
2017
We include a resummation of large transverse momentum logarithms in the next-to-leading order (NLO) Balitsky-Kovchegov equation. The resummed evolution equation is shown to be stable, the evolution speed being significantly reduced by NLO corrections. The contributions from NLO terms that are not enhanced by large logarithms are found to be numerically important close to phenomenologically relevant initial conditions. We numerically determine the value for the constant in the resummed logarithm that includes a maximal part of the full NLO terms in the resummation.
On the validity of perturbative studies of the electroweak phase transition in the Two Higgs Doublet model
2019
Abstract Making use of a dimensionally-reduced effective theory at high temperature, we perform a nonperturbative study of the electroweak phase transition in the Two Higgs Doublet model. We focus on two phenomenologically allowed points in the parameter space, carrying out dynamical lattice simulations to determine the equilibrium properties of the transition. We discuss the shortcomings of conventional perturbative approaches based on the resummed effective potential — regarding the insufficient handling of infrared resummation but also the need to account for corrections beyond 1-loop order in the presence of large scalar couplings — and demonstrate that greater accuracy can be achieved …
Top quark pair production at complete NLO accuracy with NNLO+NNLL′ corrections in QCD
2019
We describe predictions for top-quark pair differential distributions at hadron colliders, which combine state-of-the-art NNLO QCD calculations and NLO electroweak corrections together with double resummation at NNLL$'$ accuracy of threshold logarithms and small-mass logarithms. This is the first time that such a combination has appeared in the literature. Numerical results are presented for the invariant-mass distribution, the transverse-momentum distribution as well as rapidity distributions.
The veridical perception of object temperature with varying skin temperature.
1988
The effect of skin-adaptation temperature on object-temperature perception was investigated, using the method of dichiric matching, in an attempt to determine whether veridical perception of physical object temperature occurs in human subjects. Observers were presented with a test temperature on one hand and required to find a matching temperature, that is, one that produced the same sensation, on the other, differently adapted, hand. Using equality of test and matching temperatures as a criterion of veridical perception, it was found that the latter improves with ΔT, the difference between object temperature and skin-adaptation temperature. It is postulated that when ΔT is close to zero, v…
Factorization of the soft gluon divergence from the dipole picture deep inelastic scattering cross sections at next-to-leading order
2018
We use a factorization scheme analogous to one proposed for single inclusive forward hadron production to factorize the soft gluon divergence present in the deep inelastic scattering cross sections in the dipole picture at next-to-leading order (NLO). We show numerically that in this carefully constructed scheme it is possible to obtain meaningful results for the DIS cross sections at NLO, and so we are able to quantitatively study the recently derived NLO corrections to the DIS cross sections. We find that the NLO corrections can be significant and sensitive to the details of the factorization scheme used for the resummation of the large logarithms into the BK evolution equation. In the ca…
Mixed Circular Convolutions and Zak Transforms
2014
In this chapter the notion of mixed circular convolution is introduced. The polynomial and discrete periodic splines defined on uniform grids are special cases of such convolutions. The so-called Zak transforms provide tools to handle mixed circular convolutions
French summaries of product characteristics: content in relation to therapeutic monitoring of psychotropic drugs
2010
The prescription information (summary of product characteristics, SPC) is compiled by the pharmaceutical industry as required by the national regulatory authorities. They vary in their content about the properties of drugs and about the usefulness of therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) in the blood of patients. Based on a previous study carried out in Germany, the degree of agreement of French SPC for 59 psychotropic drugs with the existing medico-scientific evidence in the area of TDM was examined using a recently developed instrument. A summary score of SPC content (SPCC) related to TDM (SPCC TDM ) has been calculated and compared with the level of recommendation of TDM of the AGNP-TDM expe…

Effective Charge of the Higgs Boson
1997
The Higgs-boson lineshape is studied within the pinch technique resummation formalism. It is shown that any resonant Higgs-boson amplitude contains a universal part which is gauge independent, renormalization-group invariant, satisfies the optical and equivalence theorems, and constitutes the natural extension of the QED effective charge to the case of the Higgs scalar.
(F, G) -summed form of the QED effective action
2021
We conjecture that the proper-time series expansion of the one-loop effective Lagrangian of quantum electrodynamics can be summed in all terms containing the field-strength invariants $\mathcal{F}=\frac{1}{4}{F}_{\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\nu}}{F}^{\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\nu}}(x)$, $\mathcal{G}=\frac{1}{4}{\stackrel{\texttildelow{}}{F}}_{\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\nu}}{F}^{\ensuremath{\mu}\ensuremath{\nu}}(x)$, including those also possessing derivatives of the electromagnetic field strength. This partial resummation is exactly encapsulated in a factor with the same form as the Heisenberg-Euler Lagrangian density, except that now the electric and magnetic fields can depend arbitrar…
