Lintujen ikkunatörmäyskuolemat rengastusaineistoon perustuen

Lintujen ikkunatörmäämiskuolemat ovat yksi suurimmista ihmislähtöisestä toiminnasta aiheutuva lintujen kuolinsyy. Aikaisempien tutkimusten mukaan on arvioitu muun muassa, että Yhdysvalloissa kuolee vuosittain noin miljardi lintua ikkunatörmäyksen seurauksena. Tässä työssä hyödynsin tiedettävästi ensimmäisen kerran rengastettujen lintujen tietoja ikkunatörmäyskuolemien tarkastelemisessa. Analysoimani data sisälsi yhteensä 6 388 ikkunatörmäyksessä kuollutta rengastettua lintuyksilöä. Käytän tutkimusmetodeinani sekä ikonologista että semioottista analyysiä painottaen kuitenkin ikonologiaa päämetodina. Tutkielmani ajallisesti laajan alueen kattamiseksi esittelen useita esimerkkejä karhuaiheisista taideteoksista, sekä muita karhuun liittyviä kulttuurin tuotteita, kuten vaakunataidetta ja karhuntaljaa. Aiempi pelimusiikin tutkimus on keskittynyt erityisesti musiikin funktioihin peleissä ja pelimusiikin tekniseen kehitykseen. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää, millä tavoin Interplayn vuonna 1998 julkaisemaan Fallout 2-peliin on musiikin avulla luotu postapokalyptinen maailma. Tutkimuksessa mielenkiinnon kohteena olivat siis pelimusiikin merkityssisällöt, joiden selvittämiseen käytettiin Kramerin hermeneuttisia ikkunoita. Tärkeimmiksi tutkimustuloksiksi osoittautuivat kolme määrittelemääni rakenteellista trooppia, joilla oli selkeä yhteys pelin maailmaan ja laajempaan kulttuuriseen kontekstiin.
