Bakalaura darba “Jaunatnes organizāciju loma lēmumu pieņemšanā Eiropas Savienības dalībvalstīs” mērķis ir apskatīt, kuras Eiropas Savienības valstis ir aktīvākās jauniešu iesaistē politiskajos jautājumos, un kādi instrumenti tiek izmantoti jauniešu iekļaušanai politiskajās sarunās. Carmen in honorem Hludowichi Caesaris on neljään kirjaan jakautuva, elegiseen mittaan kirjoitettu eepos, joka kuvaa Ludwig Hurskaan hallintokautta 800-luvun alusta 820-luvulle. Sen kirjoitti Ermoldus Nigellus -niminen kirkonmies tavoitteenaan päästä teoksen avulla maanpaosta. Ermolduksen kirjoituksista on säilynyt lisäksi kaksi Ludwigin pojalle Pippinille omistettua runokirjettä. Frugivory in tropical forests is a major ecological process, as most tree species rely on frugivores for their dispersion, and numerous animal species used fruits as their principal sources of food. However, frugivory networks between plants and animals in Afrotropical forests are poorly described, and the mechanisms shaping them remain largely unexplored. Abstract Background Apoptosis and other forms of cell death have been intensively investigated in the past years to explain the mode of action of synthetic anticancer drugs and natural products. Recently, a new form of cell death emerged, which was termed ferroptosis, because it depends on intracellular iron. Maģistra darba “Politiski motivēta biedru izslēgšana no Latvijas Ļeņina komunistiskās jaunatnes savienības, 1945.–1949.” mērķis ir izpētīt cēloņus, kas noteica jauniešu pievienošanos VĻKJS un izslēgšanu no tās par politiskiem motīviem. Pēc PSRS aneksijas Latvijā par VĻKJS biedriem kļuva arī tādi jaunieši, kuri uzskatīja, ka, pievienojoties VĻKJS un formāli parādot lojalitāti tai, viņi gūs piesegu savai šķiriskajai izcelsmei, pagātnes rīcībai, uzskatiem, kā arī – aktivitātēm, par kurām PSRS piemēroja atbildību pēc KPFSR 58. panta par “pretpadomju” rīcību. Šādi motivētu jauniešu dalība VĻKJS ietekmēja arī LĻKJS CK biroja veidotās politiskās audzināšanas nostādnes.
Antischistosomal activity of artemisinin derivatives in vivo and in patients

Schistosomiasis is a helminthic disease affecting more than 200 million people in the tropics as well as returning travellers. Treatment mainly relies on a single drug, praziquantel. Praziquantel cannot kill developing schistosomula resulting in frequent treatment failures and re-infections. Monotherapy also favors the selection for resistance. New drugs are therefore urgently needed. The activity of the semi-synthetic artemisinin derivatives artemether, artesunate and arteether is not restricted to malaria. We reviewed their anti-schistosomal activity in vivo and in patients by searching the PubMed database for publications since 1983 with the search terms "artemisinin" and "Schistosoma". …
