The thesis "Stereotypes of the magnetizer and hypnotist in English fiction literature of the 19th Century" is made up of three research papers. In the first paper, entitled "The picture of Animal Magnetism in Fiction Literature: The Cases of Poe, Doyle, and Du Maurier," I discuss the following texts: The Facts in the Case of M.Valdemar (1845) by Edgar Allan Poe, The Great Keinplatz Experiment (1885) by Arthur Conan Doyle and Trilby (1894) by George Du Maurier. Thus, the case of Poe serves to present the historical overview of the diffusion and reception of animal magnetism in the United States, that of Doyle for the German case and that of Du Maurier for the British case. La investigación llevada a cabo durante el periodo de tesis doctoral y que se describe en este manuscrito pertenece al campo de la espintrónica molecular. Ha sido motivada por el deseo de incorporar nuevos materiales moleculares a dispositivos espintrónicos y ahondar en la comprensión de la inyección y el transporte de espín en este tipo de capas, a través del estudio de dispositivos como la válvula de espín molecular y el spin-OLED.
