To help understand the organoleptic qualities of steam cooked foods, the kinetics of aroma release during cooking in a potato starch based model matrix was studied. Behaviour of components having a major impact in potato flavour were studied using solid phase micro extraction-gas chromatography (SPME-GC). Evolution of microstructure of potato starch model-matrix during steam cooking process was analyzed using environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM). Abstract Chromosome numbers and nuclear DNA contents were determined in several taxa of two genera of Cistaceae, Halimium and Xolantha. The diploid chromosome number 2n = 18 is stable within the genus Halimium. In Xolantha, the diploid chromosome number 2n = 14 was confirmed in X. tuberaria, and hexaploid (2n = 36) and octoploid (2n = 48) cytotypes were found in X. guttata. DNA amounts, first reported here for these genera, were determined by flow cytometry of propidium iodide-stained nuclei. Unfortunately, they irreversibly bind to calcifying tissues and are deposited along the incremental lines of dentine and enamel, causing defects and staining, from bright yellow to dark brown (3, 5, 8). According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, tetracyclines are not indicated for the treatment of common infections in children younger than 8 years of age. Analysis of serine proteases from marine sponges by 2-D zymography.

Proteolytic activities isolated from the marine demosponges Geodia cydonium and Suberites domuncula were analyzed by 2-D zymography, a technique that combines IEF and zymography. After purification, a 200 kDa proteolytically active protein band was obtained from G. cydonium when analyzed in gelatin copolymerized 1-D zymograms. The enzymatic activity was quantified using alpha-N-benzoyl-D-arginine p-nitroanilide (BAPNA) as a substrate and corresponded to a serine protease. The protease activity was resistant to urea and SDS. Biomarkers for determining clearance of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection during anti-tuberculosis therapy or following exposure could facilitate enhanced monitoring and treatment.
