Introduction: Adalimumab (ADA) and golimumab (GOL) are effective in the induction and maintenance treatment of moderate-to-severe ulcerative colitis (UC). No comparable data between the 2 drugs are available up to now. Aims & Methods: We reported the Sicilian Network experience on the comparative efficacy of ADA and GOL in patients (pts) with moderate-to-severe UC. Animal models of intestinal inflammation are indispensable for our understanding of the pathogenesis of Crohn disease and ulcerative colitis, the two major forms of inflammatory bowel disease in humans. Here, we provide protocols for establishing murine 2,4,6-trinitro benzene sulfonic acid (TNBS)-, oxazolone- and both acute and chronic dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) colitis, the most widely used chemically induced models of intestinal inflammation. Abstract Background Ulcerative colitis (UC) is characterized by a diffuse, continuous, and chronic inflammation of mucosa and submucosa layers in the colon1. Inflammasome complex is involved in the intestinal homeostasis regulation, but its role in UC has not been established yet. We have recently reported that SUCNR1 mediates intestinal inflammation and fibrosis2. We aim to analyze the role of SUCNR1 in inflammasome activation and UC.
