El nuevo escenario del orden público en el arbitraje : comentario a la STC de España, Sala Primera, núm. 17/2021, de 15 de febrero.

2021

The Constitutional Court delimits the concept and scope of public order, the requirement to state the grounds and the judicial review within the framework of the action for annulment of arbitral awards. The Constitutional Court rejects the jurisprudential line of the High Court of Justice of Madrid regarding the broadening of the concept of public policy and prevents the review of the merits of the case through the action for annulment.

Arborescent Supply Chains: the effect of OUT policies

2013

The objective of this paper is to analyze the impact of the smoothing replenishment rules on a divergent supply chain. To this purpose we simulate a classical four echelon serially- linked supply chain model and an arborescent supply chain model under two scenarios, i.e. classical OUT and smoothing replenishment rule. We show that the divergent supply chain structure always performs worse than the serial supply chain and how smoothing the order pattern may decrease this discrepancy.

Continuous images of arcs: Extensions of Cornette's Theorem

2015

In [J.L. Cornette “Image of a Hausdorff arc” is cyclically extensible and reducible Trans. Am. Math. Soc., 199 (1974), pp. 253–267], Cornette proved that a locally connected Hausdorff continuum X is the continuous image of an arc if and only if each of its cyclic elements is the continuous image of an arc. Cyclic elements form a closed null cover of X by retracts of X. We generalize Cornette's result to closed null covers of X with a dendritic structure. We give examples to show that some of our conditions are necessary and we pose some open questions.

A detailed method for creating digital 3D models of human crania: an example of close‑range photogrammetry based on the use of Structure‑from‑Motion …

2022

AbstractPhotogrammetry is a survey technique that allows for the building of three-dimensional (3D) models from digitized output data. In recent years, it has been confirmed as one of the best techniques to build 3D models widely used in several fields such as life and earth sciences, medicine, architecture, topography, archaeology, crime scene investigation, cinematography, and engineering. Close-range photogrammetry, in particular, has several applications in osteological studies allowing to create databases of 3D bone models available for subsequent qualitative and quantitative studies. This work provides a step-by-step guide of the photo acquisition protocol and the photogrammetric work…

New Proposal on the Symbology of the Protohistoric Tray of El Gandul (Alcalá de Guadaira, Seville)

2018

Dicho mitem…

Survival of a multiple skull trauma: the case of an early neolithic individual from the LBK enclosure at Herxheim (Southwest Germany)

2003

The Early Neolithic enclosure of Herxheim yielded the human remains of more than 450 individuals mainly represented by cranial vaults and numerous fractured cranial and post- cranial bones. The skulls were shaped post-mortem into skull caps by intentional separation of the cranial base and facial bones. One of these calottes revealed four ante-mortem traumatic lesions and additional cut marks. The defects of this individual were analysed in detail to obtain information on the chronology and consequences of the traumata and manipulations and their probable intention. Four marks could be attributed to at least two violent incidents because of their different stages in the healing process. Ther…

Interfering with Arginine Metabolism As a New Treatment Strategy for Multiple Myeloma

2015

Abstract Introduction Starvation of tumor cells from the amino acid arginine has recently gained particular interest because of the downregulation of the rate-limiting enzyme argininosuccinate synthethase 1 (ASS1) in various cancer entities. ASS1-deficient cells cannot resynthesize arginine from citrulline and are therefore considered arginine auxotrophic. The arginine depleting enzyme arginine deiminase (ADI-PEG20, Polaris Pharmaceuticals) is currently tested in phase I-III clinical trials for different arginine auxotrophic cancers. The natural arginine analogue canavanine can compete with arginine for arginyl-tRNA-binding sites and consequently be incorporated into nascent proteins instea…
