Group analysis is a methodology that localizes the interactions arising from patients' symptoms and personality disorders. This marks the passage from a clinical-character aspect to a direct vision of the conflictual and unconscious borders between Ego and Superego. Thus the traumatic personal history of the individual is relatively freed from the constrictions of the repetition compulsion present in the symptomatic structures. The author maintains that combined therapy (a weekly group session and a weekly individual session) reduces cases of abandonment of the group caused by the deepest resistances of the id.

BACKGROUND: Abdominal edema attacks in patients with hereditary angioedema are often extremely painful, associated with vomiting and diarrhea, and have a high potential for causing recurrent disability of the patient. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: Intraindividual comparison of retrospective data in 75 hereditary angioedema patients comprising 4,834 abdominal attacks treated with C1 inhibitor concentrate versus 17,444 untreated abdominal attacks. Lactate concentration, fibrinogen and fibrin(ogen) -- degradation-products in central venous blood were analysed in 35 unconscious patient with acute hypnotic drug poisoning (HDP) and compared with the results in 13 healthy control persons undergoing the same degree of forced diuresis via central venous catheters. Blood samples were taken on admission and at 12 h intervals up to 36 h after admission. Patients with HDP were attributed to the categories of moderate intoxications (n = 17) and severe intoxications (n = 18) according to their clinical condition. This study explores the processing of Arabic numerals in three patients with dense left unilateral neglect. Three tasks have been used: a test of visual awareness (is the stimulus on the left, on the right or on both sides?), a number comparison task (is the number larger or smaller than 5?), a number parity judgment task (is the number odd or even?). The test of visual awareness indicated that all three patients were completely unaware of the stimuli presented in the left hemifield. This paper inquires about the existence and uniqueness of a univariate continuous random variable for which both cumulative distribution and density functions are equal and asks about the conditions under which a possible extrapolation of the solution to the discrete case is possible. The issue is presented and solved as a problem and allows to obtain a new family of probability distributions. The different approaches followed to reach the solution could also serve to warn about some properties of density and cumulative functions that usually go unnoticed, helping to deepen the understanding of some of the weapons of the mathematical statistician’s arsenal.
