Correlation between flavour violating decay of long-lived slepton and tau in the coannihilation scenario with Seesaw mechanism
2011
We investigate flavour violating decays of the long-lived lightest slepton and the tau lepton in the coannihilation region of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model with a Seesaw mechanism to generate neutrino masses. We consider a situation where the mass difference between the lightest neutralino, as the Lightest Supersymmetric particle (LSP), and the lightest slepton, as the Next-to-LSP, is smaller than the mass of tau lepton. In this situation, the lifetime of the lightest slepton is very long and it is determined by lepton flavour violating (LFV) couplings because the slepton mainly consists of the lighter stau and the flavour conserving 2-body decay is kinematically forbidden. We s…

Search for neutral MSSM Higgs bosons decaying to τ+τ− pairs in proton–proton collisions at s=7 TeV with the ATLAS detector
2011
A search for neutral Higgs bosons decaying to pairs of tau leptons with the ATLAS detector at the LHC is presented. The analysis is based on proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 7 TeV, recorded in 2010 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb^-1. After signal selection, 276 events are observed in this data sample. The observed number of events is consistent with the total expected background of 269 +/- 36 events. Exclusion limits at the 95% confidence level are derived for the production cross section of a generic Higgs boson phi as a function of the Higgs boson mass and for A/H/h production in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) as a function of…
Further search for supersymmetry ats=7 TeVin final states with jets, missing transverse momentum, and isolated leptons with the ATLAS detector
2012
This work presents a new inclusive search for supersymmetry (SUSY) by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy root s = 7 TeV in final states with jets, missing transverse momentum and one or more isolated electrons and/or muons. The search is based on data from the full 2011 data-taking period, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.7 fb(-1). Single-lepton and multilepton channels are treated together in one analysis. An increase in sensitivity is obtained by simultaneously fitting the number of events in statistically independent signal regions, and the shapes of distributions within those regions. A dedicated signal region is introduc…

2011
This Letter presents a search for high mass e(+)e(-) or mu(+)mu(-) resonances in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV at the LHC. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment during 2010 and correspon ...

Measurement of theWZ→ℓνℓℓcross section and limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings inpp¯collisions ats=1.96TeV
2011
We present a new measurement of the WZ -> lvll (l = e, mu) cross section and limits on anomalous triple gauge couplings. Using 4.1 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity of p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, we observe 34 WZ candidate events with an estimated background of 6.0 +/- 0.4 events. We measure the WZ production cross section to be 3.89(-0.90)(+1.07) pb, in good agreement with the standard model prediction. We find no evidence for anomalous WWZ couplings and set 95% C.L. limits on the coupling parameters, -0.077 < lambda(z) < 0.093 and -0.029 < Delta kappa(z) < 0.080 in the HISZ parameterization for a Lambda = 2 TeV form factor scale. These are the best limits to date obtaine…
SU(5)-inspired double beta decay
2015
The short-range part of the neutrinoless double beta amplitude is generated via the exchange of exotic particles, such as charged scalars, leptoquarks and/or diquarks. In order to give a sizable contribution to the total decay rate, the masses of these exotics should be of the order of (at most) a few TeV. Here, we argue that these exotics could be the “light” (i.e., weak-scale) remnants of some B – L violating variants of SU(5). We show that unification of the standard model gauge couplings, consistent with proton decay limits, can be achieved in such a setup without the need to introduce supersymmetry. Since these nonminimal SU(5)-inspired models violate B – L, they generate Majorana neut…
Probing Supersymmetric Grand Unification through Flavor Physics
2007
Flavor Changing Neutral Current (FCNC) and CP violating processes are a powerful tool to probe the Standard Model (SM) and, hence, to constrain or obtain indirect hints of New Physics (NP) beyond it. Within Supersymmetric Grand Unified theories it is generally possible to link processes occurring in the leptonic and hadronic sectors; thus, their correlated analysis provides a very interesting low energy test for a Grand Unified theory at high energies. Similarly to the FCNC decays, we also show that the Lepton Flavor Universality tests in low-energy systems ( K l 2 and π l 2 ) offer a unique opportunity in shedding light on physics beyond the Standard Model; the smallness of NP effects is m…
