Background This article describes a bibliometric review of the scientific production, geographical distribution, collaboration, impact, and subject area focus of pneumonia research indexed on the Web of Science over a 15-year period. Methods We searched the Web of Science database using the Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) of “Pneumonia” from January 1, 2001 to December 31, 2015. This study aimed to analyze the cognition, attitude, and willingness to pay (WTP) for imported and domestic human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines in Chinese medical students.MethodsMedical students in Eastern, Central and Western China were investigated. We used the HPV cognitive list to measure the cognition of participants and implemented contingent valuation method (CVM) to value WTP. Tobit model was used to analyze the factors associated with WTP.ResultsThe participants' average score for the 21 cognitive questions was 13.05 (±5.09). The Flying Geese Theory (gankoo keitai hattenron 雁行形態発展論), dating from 1932, is one of the rare cases of a scientific theory that was used as a part of Japanese wartime propaganda, and which also survived and succeeded in the postwar era. It was used to legitimize the 'New Order in East Asia (TōA shinchitsujo 東亜新秩序) in 1938, and the new formulation of the 'Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere‘ (Dai TōA kyōeiken大東亜共栄圏) in 1940. Later in the 1980s the Flying Geese Theory/Pattern became the most successful candidate for explaining the expansion of ‗Asian economical miracles‘ in the postwar era. Decennal census-led redistricting in the United States is the occasion for court actions focused nowadays on the political representation of ethnic minorities. Computer tools make possible the building of districts specifically tailored for Blacks or Hispanics, but blatant racial gerrymandering is now rejected by the US Supreme Court. Abstract Are embryonic stem cells being used for therapeutic purposes? The aim of this short report is to review to what extent are embryonic stem cells currently used for therapeutic purposes. To the best of our knowledge, only four clinical trials have been authorised so far to use human embryonic stem cells for therapeutic purposes; two of these are included in the ClinicalTrials.gov data base, and the other two, the study sponsored by Geron and the last one initiated by Advanced Cell Technology in the United Kingdom, are not.
