New Specifications for Territorial Intelligence Community System

2014

International audience; For 25 years now the territorial intelligence method Catalysis offers amultidimensional and multisectorial approach to territory. It integrates quantitativeanalysis, qualitative and spatial methods to co-construct tools available to actors insustainable development. It is an ambitious way of thinking because of the extremelyrapid evolution of information and communication technology and, consequently, ofthese methods. We passed successively to the idea of a "Catalyse toolkit" that put together tools on apersonal computer in the early 2000s, to the concept of "territorial intelligencecommunity systems" at the end of the European program caENTI (2006-2009). Access to Secondary Education in Albania: Incentives, Obstacles, and Policy Spillovers

2006

When judged either by educational attainment of adult population or by secondary and tertiary enrollment rates, by 2002 Albania compared very unfavorably to most European countries, including its neighbors. This study examines the determinants of secondary enrollment applying unobserved family effect probit model to data from Living Standards Measurement Survey 2002- 2003. The focus of the paper is to investigate the importance of access to school and to further education for enrollment. We find that both absence of a secondary school in the community and the distance from the residence location to a secondary school have strong negative effect on enrollment, controlling for family backgrou…

La Seconda Vita dell'Ambiente Costruito

2021

The contribution frames the essays studies research and projects published in issue 9 of AGATHÓN on ‘The SecondLife of the Built Environment’ an interesting topic for universities businesses and industry. Climate changes excessive use of soil renewable resources ever-increasing production of waste the current pandemic emergency and the global socio-economic crisis have in fact entered our daily life. Even if these are tragic issues they can be somehow seized as an opportunity to rethink the way we live and our world. In this ‘revolutionary’ (Floridi 2020) and ‘polycrisis’ (Losasso 2020) context specifically referring to the building industry the Academy the Research and Industry worlds are called to give answers – based on sustainability and the principles of the Green Deal but also and mostly of the new Bauhaus – that can encourage reconsiderations and re-orientations of processes and products new projects on places buildings objects and materials able to positively affect the governance of the global change that our planet and humanity need able to give a ‘new life’ to the built and/or transformed environment at any scaleSettore ICAR/12 - Tecnologia Dell'Architettura

The recent digitisation of a painting by an anonymous Sicilian in the collections of the Museo de Historia in Madrid and its inclusion in the Spanish and European cultural heritage databases has made it possible to bring an important pictorial representation of Antonello Gagini’s tribune in Palermo Cathedral back to the attention of the scientific community. After reviewing the main documentary and iconographic sources relating to the tribune the work now in Madrid is presented here which provides a valuable comparison to the sources known so far.

Reimparare il comune: A teatro dopo il 1989

2020

Problems and Techniques

2017

When biological networks are considered, the extraction of interesting knowledge often involves subgraphs isomorphism check that is known to be NP-complete. For this reason, many approaches try to simplify the problem under consideration by considering structures simpler than graphs, such as trees or paths. Furthermore, the number of existing approximate techniques is notably greater than the number of exact methods. In this chapter, we provide an overview of three important problems defined on biological networks: network alignment, network clustering, and motifs extraction from biological networks. For each of these problems, we also describe some of the most important techniques proposed…

k-Truss Decomposition for Modular Centrality

2018

There is currently much interest in identifying influential spreaders in complex networks due to many applications concerned, such as controlling the outbreak of epidemics and conducting advertisements for commercial products, and so on. A plethora of centrality measures have been proposed over the years based on the topological properties of networks. However, most of these classical centrality measures fail to select the most influential nodes in networks with a modular structure despite that it is an omnipresent property in real-world networks. Few authors have introduced centrality measures tailored to networks with community structure. In a recent work, we have shown that, in this case…
