Evolution of prodeltas : a print of glacier melting processes

2017

International audience; Coastal evolution in meters from 1966 to 2016 Prodeltas evolution in meters from 1966 to 2012 from side scan mosaics the Shoreline evolution measured by calculation between reference points Ice evolution than processes control coastal high-latitudes and how they will Coastal evolution in meters from 1966 to 2016 Question 1 : What are the effects of the glacier retreat on the hydrographic network ? First results show a decrease of the drainage density and the width of the active band which conducts to a clear concentration of the hydrographic ntework. Question 2 : What is the Kongsfjorden line evolution ? Coastal areas supplied by the hydrographic network become small…

The role of the subtropical and equatorial forcing in the development of the Atlantic Niños after 1970s.

2013

International audience; Previous works have reported a connection betweeen Atlantic and Pacific Niños occurring since 1970s. Accordingly, an Atlantic Niño (Niña) seems to favor the development of a Pacific la Niña (Niño) next winter, through an alteration of the Walker circulation. These Atlantic Niños occurring since 1970s are characterized by anomalous SSTs covering the entire tropical band during the summer months, which differs from a more equatorial warming pattern observed in previous decades. The development of this striking spatial pattern of the Atlantic Niños after 70s seems to be associated with an alteration of both North and South Subtropical Highs during the previous Winter-sp…

BIOGEOGRAPHY AND MACROECOLOGY OF ANTARCTIC AND SUB-ANTARCTIC ECHINOIDS USING A GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM.

2010

participant; Many features already show how Polar seas are impacted by present-day global warming. To cope with new climate-induced changes and survive, Antarctic and Subantarctic marine organisms can either migrate or adapt to new prevailing conditions. New biotic interactions between Southernmost species and Subantarctic invaders can be expected, as new biogeographical distributions have already been documented. Because they are biologically and ecologically well diversified, echinoids play an important part in Antarctic benthic communities. Moreover, symbioses associated to cidarid echinoids make them even more crucial for benthic diversity. The biogeographical mapping of Antarctic echin…

Late Cretaceous changes in continental configuration: toward a better-ventilated ocean?

2017

International audience; Oceanic anoxic events (OAEs) are large-scale events of oxygen depletion in the deep ocean that happened dur-ing pre-Cenozoic periods of extreme warmth. Last global OAE occurred at the Cenomanian-Turonian boundary(OAE2) prior to the Late Cretaceous long term cooling. Ever since, and despite the occurrence of warming events,Earth no more experienced such large-scale anoxic conditions. Here we explore the role of major continentalconfiguration changes occurring during the Late Cretaceous on oceanic circulation modes through numerical sim-ulations using a General Circulation Model (GCM), that we confront to existing neodymium isotope data ("Nd).Except from a continuous d…

Fossil echinoid (Echinoidea, Echinodermata) diversity of the Early Cretaceous (Hauterivian) in the Paris Basin (France).

2013

11 pages; International audience; This dataset inventories occurrence records of fossil echinoid specimens collected in the Calcaires à Spatangues Formation (CSF) that crops out in the southeast of the Paris Basin (France), and is dated from the Acanthodiscus radiatus chronozone (ca. 132 Ma, early Hauterivian, Early Cretaceous). Fossil richness and abundance of the CSF has attracted the attention of palaeontologists since the middle of the nineteenth century. This dataset compiles occurrence data (referenced by locality names and geographic coordinates with decimal numbers) of fossil echinoids both collated from the literature published over a century and a half, and completed by data from …

L'imaginaire dans la communication scientifique.

2008
