Events of Increased Biodiversity - Evolutionary Radiations in the Fossil Record.
2015
146 pages; International audience; This book presents the phenomenon of evolutionary radiation, as seen in the fossil record, by exploring its causes through the analysis of concrete examples using current and past paleontological data, which have contributed to the recognition and later analysis of these phenomena of diversification.Biodiversity arises from a long series of sometimes-sudden events, where evolutionary radiations form part of the story, as do extinctions.Throughout the book the use of illustrative examples represents well-known cases of evolutionary radiations in the fossil record. The author give a general introduction to biodiversity as we know it today, then analyze the f…

Le paysage comme représentation spaciale : le paysage viticole comme symbole des indications de provenance des vins des régions Vale dos Vinhedos, Pi…
2011
The theme of this thesis is the landscape in its specificity vineyard analyzed as a spatial representation in the building process of the geographical area of viticulture growing and the use of image of vineyard landscape as spatial landscape of the wine of the regions of Geographical Indication (GI’s) Vale dos Vinhedos, Pinto Bandeira and Monte Belo, Brazil. The objective was to explain the use of vineyard landscape as spatial representation and the images of vineyard landscape as spatial symbol for the wines of GI’s. The theoretical sources to analyze are related to the Critical geography and with the Cultural geography. The organization of the geographic area of the regions of GI’s comes…
Effets à long terme de l'apport répété de déchets organiques sur l'évolution de la matière organique et des éléments trace métalliques dans un sol sa…
2002
The distribution of trace metal elements (ETM) in soils depends on physico-chemical characteristics of the soil (pH, redox potential …) and does not remain fixed during time. The objective of this work was to study the long-term effects of the organic waste applications (sewage sludge and manure) on the evolution of the ETM and the organic matter in a cultivated soil. This study was made on the acid sandy soil of the experimental site of Ambarès (Gironde) set up in 1974 by the INRA of Bordeaux. During 20 years, this soil, cultivated in maize, received various organic applications (manure 10 t ha-1 year-1, sludges 10 t ha-1 year-1 and sludges 100 t ha-1 year-1), which stopped in 1993. This s…
Portlandite solubility and Ca 2+ activity in presence of gluconate and hexitols
2021
The current paper investigates the impact of gluconate, D-sorbitol, D-mannitol and D-galactitol on calcium speciation at high pH values by i) solubility measurements of portlandite (Ca(OH)2) and ii) potentiometric titration measurements of calcium salt solutions. Thermodynamic modeling was used to fit the chemical activities of Ca2+ and OH- ions and thus to determine the strength and kind of the different Ca-organic-hydroxide complexes. The strength of complex formation with Ca decreases in the order gluconate >> sorbitol > mannitol > galactitol, which follows the same order as sorption on portlandite. Heteropolynuclear gluconate complexes with calcium and hydroxide dominate the…
