La proposta progettuale si colloca in un’area di circa 120.000 mq in prossimità della stazione ferroviaria di Castelvetrano, tra l’attuale linea ferrata e l’ex sede ferroviaria; una zona che presenta un indebolimento della forma urbana conseguente all’espansione della città dentro il territorio agricolo. Il progetto mira alla riqualificazione di tale area e dove possibile anche alla rifunzionalizzazione di alcuni edifici dismessi appartenenti alla ferrovia. Nell’analizzare lo sviluppo della città di Catania nei secoli, e in particolare nel secondo dopoguerra, ci si imbatte nel microcosmo di San Berillo, con la sua storia fatta di progetti mancati, pianificazioni errate e buoni propositi mai realizzati. Ancora aperta è la ferita dovuta al noto sventramento del quartiere condotto alla fine degli anni Cinquanta del secolo scorso, generatore di un vuoto urbano che solo in parte è stato colmato, trattandosi in realtà anche di un vuoto sociale e culturale. Abstract Cadastres are always related to land: they are a creation of man as effect of his relationship with land. The different conditions of the Cadastre in 14 EU Member States, including the former EU Candidate States (that nowadays are also EU members), are shown in this paper. BACKGROUND: Central nervous system tumors (CNS) are the most frequent solid tumor in children. Causes of CNS tumors are mainly unknown and only 5% of the cases can be explained by genetic predisposition. We studied the effects of environmental exposure on the incidence of CNS tumors in children by subtype, according to exposure to industrial and/or urban environment, exposure to crops and according to socio-economic status of the child. Sleep disordered breathing in medically stable patients with myasthenia gravis

We investigate sleep and breathing in clinically stable myasthenia gravis (MG) patients and ask weather sleep disordered breathing (SDB) is causally linked with MG. Nineteen MG patients with a mean disease duration of 9.7 years underwent sleep studies in two consecutive nights. The primary outcome measure was the respiratory disturbance index (RDI) in terms of snoring and apneas/hypopneas. Further outcome measurements were total sleep time, sleep stage distribution and the number of arousals. A clinically relevant SDB in terms of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) (defined as RDI > 10/h) was found in four patients. There were only a few central apneas (central apnea index: 0.19 +/- 0.4/h).
