This work consists of an overview part and three research papers. The subject of this work is a class of models for dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking, and new generations of fermionic matter. An introductory overview of the standard model of electroweak interactions is given, as well as an overview of some of the recent developments in the field of walking technicolor models. We study some recently proposed models for dynamical electroweak symmetry breaking, namely the minimal walking technicolor (MWT) and next to minimal walking technicolor (NMWT) model. Types of online scams in social media. In this thesis, types of online scams in social media are examined first by defining online scams and then applying the principles of them to social media setting. The thesis is a literature review in which it was found that in social media there are similar types of scams than outside of it. These types of scams were phishing scams, scams related to social engineering malware attacks and 419 -scams. Quantum and classical dynamics of heavy quarks in a quark-gluon plasma

We derive equations for the time evolution of the reduced density matrix of a collection of heavy quarks and antiquarks immersed in a quark gluon plasma. These equations, in their original form, rely on two approximations: the weak coupling between the heavy quarks and the plasma, the fast response of the plasma to the perturbation caused by the heavy quarks. An additional semi-classical approximation is performed. This allows us to recover results previously obtained for the abelian plasma using the influence functional formalism. Varkauden kaupungin sivistystoimen ja Itä-Suomen yliopiston yhteistyö alkoi kolmiportaisen tuen verkostohankkeessa (ISKE). Hankkeen loputtua Varkaudessa oltiin halukkaita jatkamaan tutkimukseen perustuvan toimintamallin kehittämistä, aluksi kolmen koulun pilottikokeilulla. Tavoitteena oli löytää pysyvä ratkaisu oppilaiden kasvaviin käyttäytymisen ongelmiin ja samalla tukea opettajien työssäjaksamista. Proton Structure Functions at Next-to-Leading Order in the Dipole Picture with Massive Quarks

We predict heavy quark production cross sections in deep inelastic scattering at high energy by applying the color glass condensate effective theory. We demonstrate that, when the calculation is performed consistently at next-to-leading order accuracy with massive quarks, it becomes possible, for the first time in the dipole picture with perturbatively calculated center-of-mass energy evolution, to simultaneously describe both the light and heavy quark production data at small xBj. Furthermore, we show how the heavy quark cross section data provides additional strong constraints on the extracted nonperturbative initial condition for the small-xBj evolution equations.
Success and challenges of flow harmonic analysis in LHC collisions from large to small systems

One of the primary goals of heavy-ion physics is to understand the transport properties of the quark-gluon-plasma (QGP) which comprises the tiniest constituents, quarks and gluons, that prevailed in the first few microseconds after the Big Bang. The present most challenging part of the research is pinning down the critical point of the QGP, where the shear viscosity over entropy ratio (η/s) is at its minimum and very close to the lowest value in nature 1/(4π). Significant advances based on flow harmonic analysis have been made up to date. New constraints of QCD matter from improved Bayesian parameter estimation with the latest LHC data

Transport properties of the matter created in heavy-ion collisions, the quark-gluon plasma (QGP), contain essential information about quantum chromodynamics (QCD). In this talk, we present our latest study in inferring the transport properties of QGP by an improved Bayesian analysis using the CERN Large Hadron Collider Pb-Pb data. The uncertainties of the extracted properties are reduced by adding new observables sensitive to specific shear and bulk viscosity, reflecting mostly nonlinear hydrodynamic responses. The analysis also reveals that higher-order harmonic flows and their correlations have a higher sensitivity to the transport properties than other observables. This observation shows…
