In this thesis relations between neutrino mixing matrix and quark mixing matrix are studied. The focus of the analysis is on two simple cases. In the first case it is assumed that the left matrix that diagonalizes the mass matrix of charged leptons and the corresponding matrix of down quarks are equal. In the second case it is likewise assumed that the corresponding diagonalizing matrices of neutrinos and up quarks are equal. First, theoretical concepts related to the mixing of quarks and especially to the mixing of neutrinos are presented. Tutkimuksessa analysoidaan verkko-oppimisympäristön oppimateriaalin eriyttämistä aistikanavapohjaisesti. Oppimateriaalin eriyttämiseen käytetään VARK-miellejärjestelmämallia, joka pyrkii tukemaan oppilaan oppimismieltymyksiä luokittelemalla kyselyn avulla oppilaat visuaalisen, auditiivisen, lukija–kirjoittaja- ja kinesteettisen aistipreferenssin mukaan ja tarjoamalla luokittelun perusteella heille erilaisia oppimisstrategioita. Työssä tutkitaan, miten VARK-miellejärjestelmä soveltuu yläkoululaisten historian verkko-oppimateriaalin eriyttämisen perustaksi oppimistulosten ja oppimiskokemusten näkökulmasta. Measurement of an Excess in the Yield of J/ψ at Very Low pT in Pb-Pb Collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV

We report on the first measurement of an excess in the yield of J=ψ at very low transverse momentum (pT < 0.3 GeV=c) in peripheral hadronic Pb-Pb collisions at √sNN=2.76 TeV, performed by ALICE at the CERN LHC. Remarkably, the measured nuclear modification factor of J=ψ in the rapidity range 2.5 <y< 4 reaches about 7 (2) in the pT range 0–0.3 GeV=c in the 70%–90% (50%–70%) centrality class. The J=ψ production cross section associated with the observed excess is obtained under the hypothesis that coherent photoproduction of J=ψ is the underlying physics mechanism. Cubic color charge correlator in a proton made of three quarks and a gluon

The three point correlation function of color charge densities is evaluated explicitly in light cone gauge for a proton on the light cone. This includes both $C$-conjugation even and odd contributions. We account for perturbative corrections to the three-quark light cone wave function due to the emission of an internal gluon which is not required to be soft. We verify the Ward identity as well as the cancellation of UV divergences in the sum of all diagrams so that the correlator is independent of the renormalization scale. Stronger C -odd color charge correlations in the proton at higher energy

The non-forward eikonal scattering matrix for dipole-proton scattering at high energy obtains an imaginary part due to a $C$-odd three gluon exchange. We present numerical estimates for the perturbative Odderon amplitude as a function of dipole size, impact parameter, their relative azimuthal angle, and light-cone momentum cutoff $x$. The proton is approximated as $\psi_\mathrm{qqq}|qqq\rangle + \psi_\mathrm{qqqg}|qqqg\rangle$, where $\psi_\mathrm{qqq}$ is a non-perturbative three quark model wave function while the gluon emission is computed in light-cone perturbation theory. Approach to equilibrium of a quarkonium in a quark-gluon plasma

We derive equations of motion for the reduced density matrix of a heavy quarkonium in contact with a quark-gluon plasma in thermal equilibrium. These equations allow in particular a proper treatment of the regime when the temperature of the plasma is comparable to the binding energy of the quarkonium. These equations are used to study how the quarkonium approaches equilibrium with the plasma, and we discuss the corresponding entropy increase, or free energy decrease, depending on the temperature regime. The effect of collisions can be accounted for by the generalization of the imaginary potential introduced in previous studies, and from which collision rates are derived. An important outcom…

This article presents measurements of the groomed jet radius and momentum splitting fraction in pp collisions at √ s = 5.02 TeV with the ALICE detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Inclusive charged-particle jets are reconstructed at midrapidity using the anti-kT algorithm for transverse momentum 60< 80 GeV/c. We report results using two different grooming algorithms: soft drop and, for the first time, dynamical grooming. For each grooming algorithm, a variety of grooming settings are used in order to explore the impact of collinear radiation on these jet substructure observables.
