Background and objective: Additional loading doses and higher maintenance doses (MDs) have been used to overcome hyporesponsiveness of clopidogrel. We aimed to investigate whether genetic polymorphisms of two cytochromes (CYP2C19 and CYP2C9) and ABCB1 modify effect of such dose-adjustment strategy.Materials and methods: We enrolled 118 patients undergoing elective or acute percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with drug eluting stent (DES). Palaeozoic armoured agnathans (or ostraco- derms) are characterised by having an external, bone shield enclosing the anterior part of their bodies, which demon- strate great diversity of both forms and sizes. The functional significance of these cephalic shields remains unclear (they may have been a functional analogue of the vertebral col- umn, or merely afforded protection). Here we assess the importance of the cephalic shield in terms of locomotion. Articulated caudal fins of heterostracans are preserved in very rare cases. Their morphology and internal structure are completely unknown for the majority of species. One of the few preserved caudal fins belongs to the Early Devonian pteraspidid Errivaspis waynensis from the Welsh Borderland, UK. There are two different reconstructions of the tail: (1) strongly asymmetric, with a considerably longer ventral lobe, and a rather concave posterior margin (e.g. White 1935); and (2) almost symmetrical with an only slightly longer ventral lobe and a small notch in the posterior margin (e.g. Blieck 1984). Proteins of the Enabled/vasodilator-stimulated phosphoprotein (Ena/VASP) family link signal transduction pathways to actin cytoskeleton dynamics. VASP is substrate of cAMP-dependent, cGMP-dependent and AMP-activated protein kinases that primarily phosphorylate the sites S157, S239 and T278, respectively. Optimal antithrombotic therapy after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients on oral anticoagulants (OAC) remains a clinical conundrum. In fact, combining an OAC with dual antiplatelet therapy (triple antithrombotic therapy, TAT) increases the risk of bleeding. Clopidogrel is the only thienopyridine recommended in TAT patients. Whether its response plays a relevant role in this setting remains uncertain.
